who can figure this one out?

Can u guys help me figure out what happened to my car.
Yesterday in the rain, from my way back from work, I stopped at a stop sign, as soon as I was switching from 1st to 2nd, car kinda acted like stalling and the. Rpms dropped. I pulled over got it towed home.
Today spend whole day trying to start it, searched on the forums:
Since I have an aem cai, I checked that first, it was wet, so took the whole intake system out, dried the filter and maf. (filter was soaking wet, maf had some droplets)
Took the leading plugs they were dry, got the battery charged and tried the deflooding method. No luck, then tried the pull start method still nothing. tried the pull few times, 10-20mph without any luck other that towstraps breaking

Any idea what it could be? Anyone have time to come take a look or help me with what to check?
the water wasnt high, barely high enough to get past the tire part of the wheel if that makes any sense. just heavy rain.
i did have the aem cover of the filter. ignition parts were newish, maybe 5000 miles old.
Cars an 04 rx8 with 80,1xx miles

im in the katy area if anyone would be great enough to come check it out. this is kinda my daily so need this resolved asap, i know the dealer will just tell me to get a new engine

Well..................now that it has sat overnight, give a look at all four plugs anyway, make sure they are good and dry, and then I'd try pull starting it again.
I'm also assuming you didn't damage the MAF when you were looking at that???

Check to see that you are getting spark and fuel...it could be so many things. If the ESS isn't getting a signal then you won't get ignition or fuel. Could be the fuel pump....
I would check the ESS plug and see if it is plugged in properly first

Checked the ess, it was plugged in wiped it also.
Tried starting again still nothing.
Didn't pull the plugs yet but yesterday they were pretty dry. (Will check again though)
The only thing I can think of is that few weeks ago I had my car removed and was suspecting an exhaust leak in that area. Never got time to go back but could this cause the water to get in the engine somehow?

Rain sock is there for a reason, kept hearing ppl complain about water getting in AEM/MS intake when they don't put the rain sock on....go figure...
Your maf might be faulted cuz' of the rain, just my guess.

Yeah even with the sock on it will get wet, I have seen it a bagillion times even here in never rain land. It is possible the MAF is fubar but you could have toasted something else. Start simple, air, fuel, fire. But usually it will start, even with the MAF unplugged. So I would look at the fire aspect of it

Not really sure how to check to be honest.
For the air aspect I dried the whole system.
Spark I checked plugs and made sure coils and wires were pluged.
Fuel not really sure how to check, I mean I have gas and the fuel pump fuse it in lol

Sorry for my lack of knowledge
