Tritek Window Tinting

Waited almost a year to get my windows tinted then finally got the bug to get it done. I went on 06/09/2007 to have it installed and it took about 3 hours. I returned and was informed that the dust and bubbles were normal and the bubbles should disappear with time. I questioned the statement, "The dust is unavoidable." and passed it off as idiocy. Upon leaving the vehicle in the sun all weekend 95+ degrees in Dallas, it was looking really good. I pulled it out of the driveway on 06/11/2007 and found even more bubbles and debris behind the tint. I was told this should not happen and all, so I returned the vehicle to David at Tritek, the owner/manager, and he pressed most of the big bubbles out. I didn't realize he was using a propane torch to heat the glass, now the glass is discolored and the rubber seam around the 4th door windows is melted and discolored. He told me on the phone that I was just looking at it to closely and that even if it is melted I can just rub it out. This is ridiculous and I am furious, I am going to have to replace the 4th door windows now or replace the rubber seals anyhow cause they look terrible.

Mind you I researched these guys extensively and they are used by both Mazda dealerships in DFW for dealer installed tint. I have 2 colleagues that have used them without any problem and recommended them to me. I put this off for a long time in fear of having some heat damage that I have heard so many times from other people, horror stories about tint installations. So I was like it won't happen to me. But it did and here I am. So long story short I would think twice about using these guys, I would rather have paid $500 to have this tint installed versus having my car damaged and will now cost me a fortune to repair. I am sure many will say, "Used them without any problems, etc..." but just keep in mind not everyone is perfect.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your 8 at Tritek. I had them put a second layer of tint on my back three windows, and i could not be happier. After i had it done, i too noticed a few dust particles trapped betweent the glass and the tint, but it was from the 1st layer of tint (factory installed from El Dorado). Putting on the second layer just made it stand out a little more. but it takes a real close look to find it.

Once again, i am sorry to hear about your experience, they may just be in a rush with the summer heat, and your 8 might have been overlooked.

File a claim against them for the $500. They will offer u money outta court to keep it off their record. They do alot of work for all the dealerships and this time of year they keep busy. There is usually bubbles and the such but as long as u leave the windows up for 48 or so hours without rolling down the sun burns it out and looks great in the end. Now the dust and such shouldnt have been there if windows would have been cleaned properly. Just my .02 cents though.

Still $500 is way to much. I had my whole Solstice and SRT-4 done for $400 with 0% on all the windows and have lasted over 3 years on the SRT and a year on the Solstice and he was a mobile Installer.

uhm, so you drove around with opaque windows? did you have a periscope?

0% would be 0% of visible light makes it through?

as said above... if you had 0% tint, then no light gets in... so you would not be able to see out the windows... I assume if you did do 0%, you didnt do it on the windshield. But, I think doing 0% on any windows is rather stupid... it'd be like driving one big blind spot lol

Did you not notice the part where he said he drives a neon? That's when I stopped reading and disregarded the whole post. :spank:
