Hey Larry, I'm going to change up my plans for the 15th, details below, and suggestions welcomed :)

Pardon my multiple posts, this is my first time putting together a run and I had a stroke of genius (well, I wanted to do something a little different anyway) so instead of going to Gruene, I'm thinking we leave a couple of hours earlier, go to Blanco for lunch, then go check out Fredricksburg (score some dinner perhaps?) and Johnson City for lights on the way home as well. One other option would be Blanco for an early dinner, eat, socialize a little etc. until it gets close to dark then head straight to Johnson city from there since it's only like 10-15 miles or so. The only thing messing me up on this deal is the timing, I'm going to drive the route next weekend (not this one, car's not ready yet from being repaired) and try and get it all sorted out and get an idea of how long it takes, what kind of roads etc., I have a route sorted out and the other reason I'm skipping Gruene is to take "Devil's backbone" as well and I'm not finding any really remarkable pictures of lights there, if we go on the route I'm thinking, we have 3 places, all of which are highly decorated, to go geek on lights at :D:

Suggestions welcomed, even sarcastic ones ;)

Sad but true FYI: People need clear, simple, planned, timely notices to attend.:spank:
Your effort is appreciated; help, maps, past events, available but--time to finish.
No time/reason NOW to wait*'til you drive it a week from now (but ok for leading).
I know driving TIMES for these stops, exact details are for maps on the 15th.

Let's simplify & PICK ONE now please, #1.) OR #2.) REGARDLESS OF EXACT ROUTE:

**1.)BLANCO LUNCH: MEET 10am-LEAVE 10:30-1826, 150, 3237, Wimberley/stop,12, 306 or 32 along Canyon Lake, BLANCO @12:30+lunch, 2:00 leave-Kendalia, Sisterdale, Luckenbach, FREDSBG/stop, 4pm leave-1631, 2721, 1320, 1323, 281, JOHNSON CITY/stop 5pm, dinner, Xmas Lts @6pm, home by 290E.

**2.)BLANCO DINNER: MEET 2:30pm-LEAVE 3pm, Wimberley/stop, BLANCO @5PM +dinner, leave 6pm/dark-281N, JOHNSON CITY @6:30PM, Xmas Lts/dinner later, 290E home.

Notify asap which you prefer or we need to meet & finalize Sat. no later. Drive your detailed route to destinations in #1 or #2 for your own familarity & to finalize driver maps at your own leisure. That way we can all relax with notice on the main parts of the drive & let you worry about the details. That's a brief description of what the event planner does.:Eyecrazy: Not as easy as it looks, but not unlike a class project. All my support & help is yours to finish this, but no sympathy. :uhh: Try 3-4 events monthly for 4 years. You can do it, everyone is looking forward to the 4th Annual Xmas Tour & your event will be so memorable the club will have to plant a tree in your name on the Capital Grounds.

Call me. LD.:eyetwitch

#1 is what I'm wanting to do, after reading up on Gruene some more there is hardly a light show worth going for, plus Grist mill will be a madhouse on a Saturday night.

You've got it, Mister !! (Madeline Khan, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN).

 (no tongues) Excellent choice,.........Master. Please !! May I throw the switch... (gaggle/snort) ? :squint:

Conradulations !:ylsuper: How did you know Johnson City has the best Xmas Lts display:Eyecrazy: in the hill country besides nearby Marble Falls. Some of us may go there afterward. So many lights, so little time.:uhh:

Details, .....GD details:
*********************RESTAURANTS:
*Blanco/lunch may be light on eateries if The Sunset Grill is still closed & the Silver K Cafe, best in Johnson City/dinner, is crowded Sat. night w/Xmas traffic:banghead: . Maybe it would make things smoother to esearch who is there lunch then dinner, takes reservations for 8-12 or call-in head counts, w/space for us. It has worked well on other drives & is great for group socializing like @ the amazing Vinney's/Leakey dinner.
********************MAPS/ROUTES:
*If you wish, I"ll have an extreme detail AAA map of this part of the hill country @ the Wed.12/5 meeting for you to yellow mark a route @ your leisure before the event; 10-15 copies is usual for drivers going.

*What else can I do to help ??
*What do you want inscribed on the brass plaque we'll be attaching to your dedication tree on the Capital grounds ??
