Texas emissions?
Kinda considering a midpipe (currently have supercat) but wondering if anyone can help clarify the law with testing in texas. I looked it up and it seems like only certain counties will test if your car is registered there. So my 2 questions are: did I read that correctly or is it statewide required/not? And if it is county specific... When I first got my car, I was in montgomery county (lived with parents till graduated high school), but I've been in san antonio for the last couple years... Would my car be considered registered in montgomery?
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/insp.../item_insp.asp link for where I got my info |
watever ur insurance says.

Passing emissions in Texas is as easy as finding somebody who doesn't like the government (specifically the laws)... So, pretty much you need to find a inspector that isn't some pansy little goody goody... I know one around the Spring area, cool guy...

The emissions test is only in a few counties, ie metro areas.
Will only inspect the car where ever your car is registered. So if you move, say from there to SA and you register your car in SA, then you would have to inspect the car in SA. If you still have the car registered back home then you would have to do the inspection back home. I think SA also requires the emissions test. No? |
based on that link I provided (assuming it is up to date...) . I'm in bexar county and do not see it listed.

One thing to note... if you are registered in a non-emissions county, you can still get it inspected in an emissions city, however, they will charge you for the emissions test and not perform it.
On the flip side, you could always swap in your cat once a year. |
