No need to wait for me, but I appreciate the gesture! It might be a while before I'm daily driving it, pending on how these PCM compatibility things work out. Once the tires get in I'll have a better idea as to when this thing will be ready for the road.

I don't know if the yellow RX8'er is on these forums. Saw it a few days ago on 540, looks like a college-age guy.

glfrgy22 02-05-2013 10:43 PM

Myself and Jen (Impulse8) ran into a guy with a yellow 8 at Subway in Springdale on Sunset. We had 3 8's parked out front. Looked cool. He said that he was here on the site but haven't heard from him.

McKennaR 02-06-2013 07:02 AM

Yesterday was the day of the 8's. I somewhat less than legally took mine for a quick highway jaunt and saw the yellow RX8 (right out in front of Oni's place of work, where his RX7 was parked), headed south on i540 and exited west on MLK, saw a red S2 in Farmington before I headed back north again to Wedington via Broyles, where I was getting gas on the corner of Wedington and Rupple and saw a blacked out RX8 heading south on Rupple towards the boys and girls club. Phew.

glfrgy22 you don't happen to work in Farmington, do you? If not, then there's another red S2 up here...

OniFC 02-06-2013 11:52 AM

I saw the blacked out 8 yesterday as well. It was parked in front of one of the houses on Rupple. There is another black on black 8, sans wing, that belongs to a guy I know that lives off Wedington. I might look into getting some "business" cards made up to leave on peoples cars to direct them to the RX forums.

P.S. McKenna, you should come get that thing washed!

McKennaR 02-06-2013 12:05 PM

I'm hesitant to get the thing wet right now... ha ha. The under-tray isn't in place, nor are the fender well liners. Once those go on and I register it, I'll drop by.

OniFC 02-07-2013 08:45 AM

Well as soon as you get that thing all squared up we'll start planning a meet!

glfrgy22 02-07-2013 12:56 PM

Yes I work in Farmington at NWA Collision Center. That's my R3!

glfrgy22 03-08-2013 07:30 PM

The weather is looking up! Lets meet!

McKennaR 03-13-2013 11:59 AM

I concur, my 8 is now on the road. Taking it with me to CA in 3 weeks, we need to meet up before then!

OniFC 03-18-2013 09:36 PM

We really need to get something together guys!

McKennaR 03-19-2013 08:22 AM

OK, I'll bite. This coming weekend, same place in Rogers as the last one?

Or, the drive out to War Eagle is nice this time of year too. I was just at the Hobbs shooting range and the sand from this winter is finally off of the roads. Made for a very fun drive to and from the range. Of course my bro-in-law in the co-pilot seat was not thrilled.

Or drive to Lake Wedington and then on to the casino in west Siloam? I mean, it doesn't have to be formal or anything, just get a few of us together again and take a drive.

Or, we could meet at my place and have a wrench-day if anyone needs anything done in a heated garage? I have a hoist, floor jacks, jack stands, ramps, oil drain pans, enough tools to completely rebuild a car mechanically, and plenty of beer.

Just throwing out some ideas.

OniFC 03-19-2013 05:26 PM

I have Friday off if that works for anyone.

glfrgy22 03-20-2013 07:19 AM

I can do either Saturday or Sunday

McKennaR 03-20-2013 08:10 AM

I'm working on the gal's Subaru this Friday all day (brakes, wheel bearings, LCA bushings etc), but Sat and Sun are clear for me. Oni, you're working this weekend? Maybe we could meet at your place of employment. Pretty central, and that way you get to hang out too.

bmarrs 03-21-2013 07:59 AM

I'm in...
Hey guys how's everyone been??
I also have friend with an '09 that might come slong

McKennaR 03-21-2013 09:17 AM

Great man, long time! ha ha.

What I was going to suggest is that if the weather isn't garbage we could stop by the car wash just off of 540 at Wedington where the owner of a certain red FC spends most of his days. Say around 10am-ish.

Then after a quick wash, we could air dry the cars on the way to Lake Wedington.

But if it's crap weather, I'd rather not be flogging the cars down the Lake Wedington Road, slick pavement + sometimes off camber, decreasing radius corners + RWD + narrow lanes and such.

Plus, I'm not going to wash the car if it's rain / snowing either. So how's this sound:

WEATHER PERMITTING:
Saturday, 10am, car wash just west of exit 64 (Wedington exit) from I540.

Sound fair?

glfrgy22 03-22-2013 09:52 AM

Sounds good to me! And Ryan I see you are having a windshield put in here at the shop :) I'm assuming you saw my 8 here then.

Yes and yes. Its a local business that does a lot for the community, and at least one rotary enthusiast works there. I'd say win-win.

glfrgy22 03-22-2013 12:38 PM

It definitely is!

McKennaR 03-22-2013 04:45 PM

Tomorrow we're supposed to get sleet. I'll still head to the car wash, but if the weather is crap there's no point in doing a scenic cruise... heh. We can still hang around and BS about cars, however.

glfrgy22 03-22-2013 05:30 PM

Yea I won't be coming all the way up. I live in Alma. We need to get the money together and all go rent out Hallett over in Oklahoma for a few hours. Lawless driving sounds fun!

McKennaR 03-22-2013 06:20 PM

I always drive past that Hallett sign on 412 west of Tulsa... Seeing you mention it here made me google it and holy crap what a shocker! I had always assumed it was some redneck-orgy midget track.

Surprise of all surprises, it's a no sh*t racetrack in middle-of-nowhere Oklahoma that ISN'T a tractor pull arena or a 1/3 mile dirt circle surrounded by empty natty ice cans and crystal meth residue.

Too bad the $1300 / weekday rental price only includes 5 cars ($100 per each additional car). That's pretty steep.

McKennaR 03-23-2013 11:16 AM

Just got back from a freezing "chill" session over at the car wash. It was another "meet of 2" but it's always fun talking rotary with another enthusiast. With the 1 hour rule in effect, and having pulled OniFC away from his work for an exceedingly long time, I decided to head back to the house.

We'll probably have to start a new thread and get something serious together in April / May.

jcrewlee 03-24-2013 05:39 AM
