Here we go, I started making great progress on my build, again Thanks to Houston for giving me a load on info and options along with prices and other things to consider for my build.

At this point things are moving like pond water:eek: so far the engine removal was smooth sailing with very minimal stuff broken along the way, mainly plastic that is so brittle at the verge of desintegration.

Will appreciate any insight, last night I review houstons rebuid thread, lots of info and good reccomendations.

Any way I started dealing with the tons of carbon buit everywhere and I am making very slow progress. I will be getting a parts cleaner from Harbor freights. What is the reccomended solution for cleaning all this carbon?

Last night even brought out the dremel and attachment.

Also is there a place local I can take my LIM to have it sanitized deep cleaning?

Mean while also worked on the engine bay, got the RAD out and the front bumbper.

Where can I go to get better oil cooler lines? considering RB the way to go.

BTW where can I get the SOHN??

Any engine shop will likely have access to a sonic cleaner. But here at SARX we use "yellow stuff" which is a yellow heavy duty degreaser sold at Harbor Freight. Get two gallons. It works better than anything else we have tried.

You can get the RB lines or you can make your own and there are a couple of options. You can message Houtsonrx8er or myself for options.

And make sure you search man and read the build threads here, there is some great info. So i guess you decided to rebuild it yourself?

Thanks for the answer Sir. I saw that yellow stuff yesterday when I picked up some brushes, oh well another trip to HF.

I saw Houstons RX8er setup when he stopped by the house :yumyum: considering the oil filter relocation as well.

As for the rebuild is still debatable in my mind... the mod list is getting bigger and bigger:SHOCKED: def will do plently of research.

for now is just clean and polish until next check comes in the mail

Engine rebuild

Upgrade OIL PSI regulator
Eccentric shaft spring
MAZMART water pump and thermo
Oil nozzles lines, injectors and isolator I broke LOL
Rebuild kit Need to make some calls
Clean and test fuel injectors
Racing main bearing for additional lubrication read on the post that is a wise investment..
Water cooled housing mod by RB ???
Balancing the assemblies
Research the micro-blue and what parts to do? This will be a DD car
Light flywheel, new clutch with PP, throwout bearing and XMS seals (undecided which one , ACT, RB, Excedy???)

Unforeseen or unknown are housing, Irons, Rotors… to be determined later

Engine externals
SOHN
Reservoir tank for the SOHN
Braided oil cooler lines
Flush the oil coolers
Additional fan for oil, too hot down here during summer
Replaced/upgrade fans for radiator (one is noisy) possibly will go soon
RB hoses for radiator
Look into better vacuum lines with high heat tolerance/ replace vac lines
Oil filter relocation
RB header and full exhaust + heat shield tunnel area
Upgrade CAI
RB gauges kit for oil and water temps
Plugs, coils, wires and all fluids

Additional considerations:
Inspect all harness connections, grounds etc
Hardwire the damn PS
Clean, clean and clean I am obsessive

Most of that looks good but you cannot upgrade the fuel pump pressure regulator, it's built into the pump. personally I would stay away from the cryo stuff and use Mazda OEM seals with the exception of heavy duty coolant seals from Pineapple Racing. I would also add the Mazmart RE-medy oil pressure upgrade.

Yea thats what I had in mind perhaps I did not type it right. I will def be increasing the oil PSI by doing the pressure regulator and shimmis on the front Iron. I was just looking at what is out there it seems that the FD is the way to go I doubt I will need an adjustable or spend the extra 50 bucks for whats on the market.

Anyhow again I have send a big shot out to Austin he stopped by today and so my mess LOL

He got the flywheel and ecc shaft bolt loose for me. Nothing beats the right tools

of course that guy must bench press 1000 lbs iused to do that when I was old.

time to start a new list I think if more than 50% of the core is gone will be smarter to go reman and call it a day.

Quality rebuild with core swap seems to be $3000-4000 range??? a local member got a 24mon/24k warranty I believe?

I see... I am running down numbers and will keep this in mind since is local.

By the looks so far and I have not yet started cleaning, just on observation and preferences... (I am soo picky sometimes must be my old age) the housings are done, and the rotors most likely. that alone plus shipping and rebuild kit is in that range.

not counting for all the other misc so maybe a quality rebuild is the way to go for a DD.

I can always use my ECC shaft for my RX7 later so not looking into core exchange for now.

Made some progress over the weekend only to have more questions on what to do.
Managed to clean most of the engine bay. Removed all wire harnesses clean all points or connections,the fuse box was extremely dirty same for ecu and oilcoller and radiator. I also made sure the connections for the PS were good to go, still considering hard wiring it.I also cleaned and secured all grounds.Still to do is the engine wire harness

Now the first question is how to get the oil colers fins straight. any ideas, tricks of the trades??

Considering ordering oil cooler lines, Radiator hoses and heater hoses, wntaed them all blue where to go for that, RB has the rad hoses but need the rst of them.

Then to do more cleaning once I get my parts cleaner.

You can get the full hose kit from autobahn or Samco. The best thing to straighten the fins is tweezers that are flat, not the normal kinds. They sell a set of a bunch of different tweezers at harbor freight. be prepared to go cross eyed, it takes patience and time to get them all straight.

9K thanks for the info, did came accross the SAMCO:eyetwitch. Will call later on the week or shoot an email.

The RB only offers three hoses, I am sure that not including the heater hoses there is more. I will check the files and the mess in garage to make sure, The SAMCO website calls for six?? Do any locals offer the same quality as SAMCO that you know off??

I had no luck googling Autobahn only car dealers.

BTW got a tip of a local shop off 10 for custom braided oil hoses. The cheapest I found were about 420:rant:

I will try get a complete custom set made and eliminate the tube that goes over the short block to the filter housing.
I need to get the coling of oil and Antifreze straight, before going into the engine details.:wiggle:

Custom braided is expensive and unnecessary IMO. Braided hose is a PIA. I use high quality rubber Parker push lock hose and fittings.

It's Autobahn88, I don't see a need for the six hose kit but that's your choice.

I need the bling no other reason besides at 130,000 miles and and 8 years I want to replcae now as many as I can .


kinda like pay now or pay more later if you know what I mean. While everything is out is better to do now also and avoid taking apart something later.

BTW anyone know the size for the Intake vacuum hoses are they 4mm or 5mm.
