More bad luck for my baby!!!!!

Well it happened again yet more damage to my 8... Was parked at school had just opened my rear door to put my books in and a truck was turning to get around some cars just behind mine and he thought he would be cool by spinning his tires in the gravel of the parking lot. Well I heard him doing it and did not think much about it until I heard a resounding *kchunk* and looked up to see my rear window had shattered!!!! :Eyecrazy:The only thing holding my window in place right now is the tinting I think. I knew who it was and was able to call him to get him to return and we tried calling his insurance to take care of the issue but they said since it was a rock hitting the car they would not pay to repair my window since it is considered road hazard. So I went with my insurance and they have a company that does thier glass work, but they kept trying to pawn off thier make of glass instead of the manufacturer glass trying to say that it met all standards. I question the validity of this since if my memory serves me correctly (which of course most of the time it doesn't) the antena is built into the rear window. So now I have to wait until they get an authorization from the insurance company to get the proper glass. Any thoughts on this? Am I being to picky with wanting only Mazda glass? Am I totally wrong about the antena? Let me know please

Gambit 12-19-2006 02:16 PM

you're right about the antenna, and I'd only want mazda parts on it too

that's complete bullshit how his insurance company won't pay for it

kalidor's8 12-19-2006 02:36 PM

I agree and it pisses me off that they don't I will stand my ground with the insurance company though if they try to say I have to use thier companies glass.

canaryrx8 12-19-2006 05:21 PM

weak, since his insurance won't pay, I'd take it out of his truck then :D:

kalidor's8 12-19-2006 06:30 PM

I think I might but after thinking about it I thought I would call my insurance company back to double check how they work things. This time instead of talking to thier window claims I talked to a normal claims person and explained everything to her. She did not think this could be considered a normal road hazard since my car was parked and he was intentionally kicking up rocks so she was going to fight to get his insurance to pay at least the deductable. she also told me the way that I can go through Mazda so I get everything the way I want it! I love USAA!!! :ylsuper:

Torchmonkey 12-19-2006 07:51 PM

Yeah, USAA does rock...except they don't take kindly to tickets or other things on your record. Recently, some kid smashed our minivan and USAA took really good care of us.

ouch man - i hope you are prepared to wait a WHILE for that glass though. I had my rear window broken out due to thieves, and my car was in the shop for a MONTH (3 weeks of which was waiting on glass)

Whoever did this i hope your insurance company nails him to the wall, and if not there is street justice.

My feelings go out to you and your 8 man.

Phantom Menace 12-19-2006 09:44 PM

+1. I feel for you. If I were you, friend or not, I'd make the guy pay for the window out of his pocket. I hate idiots like that.

Also, don't feel bad for making the insurance company work. I'd want nothing less than OEM for my car and so should you. Insist what YOU want 100% or they'll "corner cut" you all the way.

legendkurado 12-19-2006 09:56 PM

wat an ass... but im sure if you fight it a bit longer.. you'll get them to pay you full.. you were parked.. if not... then drive a huge truck and do that back to them ;p haha jk... but seriously.. do it >.< grr...

kalidor's8 12-21-2006 04:03 PM

Thanks for the support guys I talked to Pro Auto who does all of premiere Mazda's glass work and they said they could have my window in by tuesday and then come out and do it at my house. Of course with the tint and all it is going to cost 725 and some change. I still have to wait for the insurance adjuster to come out and look at the car to see what they estimate it at.

On a different note.. hey Kurado do you have strakes on your 8 or is that something else?

I would go talk to his dad and see what the man has to say about what his son did. If you show him respect, he just might do the same and pay for the damage. Just don't go in demanding anything. Simply explain what happened and ask for his advice.

Keef 12-27-2006 10:52 AM

no, just ceran wrap his car... Prank the crap outta him, use him as your scapegoat for anything that's happened wrong in your days...

I've had people go completely destruct-o on my crap, so I either set their chit on fire, or wreap some other random prank on their stuff...

It's called Karma, people don't go throwing stones at your stuff too "look cool"... Why don't you "Look cool" back, and set his truck on fire by dumping some gasoline on it... Then have him come outside and question him if you think he looks flaming then

...umm...that's not karma at all...
Karma means in a persons next life the course of their lives will be determined by all the good and all the bad deeds they did. Meaning, in his next life, the truck driver will have some idiot damage something important to him, and he will have to go through hell to get it fixed...

...setting his car on fire is...illegal...
...and a little psychotic...

...but mostly illegal.

I had a football coach that use to say "it's only illegal if you get caught" ;)

I have USAA. They are a company that will fight hard for you. They get things done.

kalidor's8 12-31-2006 05:54 PM

Got my check from USAA a couple of days ago and it was over 750 that includes the cost of a bumper paint which I will not do since I plan on getting a new kit soon. But that still does not include his copay, so we shall see what happens. It ended up costing me 720 for the new window plus tint so at least I got paid back for that

As for setting his truck on fire and all of that<very funny> I think I will let things happen as they do. He is getting so much crap from the other students in our class. (we all hang out in the same circle) It's funny, he only has a conditional DL since his is suspended and he was so worried I would call the cops on him. As long as I get paid back for all the hassel then I am good I would go to his dad but he lives in Dallas...

kalidor's8 01-31-2007 11:34 PM

Well a little update, his insurance (Progressive) still refuses to pay anything even after I had a witness claim he saw the whole thing. USAA wants to take them to litigation and I told them to go ahead with it. I have even gotten him on video pealing out of the parking lot as he continues to do claiming that he does not of course. I think he saw me tape him yesterday though so he might start controlling his driving.

rotarygod 02-01-2007 01:32 AM

I know USAA will fight for you. They are good about going after other insurance companies. They do it all the time. I have a friend who SELLS progressive and he says not to use them for this very reason! I don't know how he does his job so well knowing this?

kalidor's8 02-01-2007 10:14 AM

I hate seeing thier commercial now I just want to try to get them for false advertising how helpful indeed

I would just weld his hood, trunk and doors all shut permanently

Someone would have caught an ass whoopin'. Glad to hear you got it sorted out.
