Mazda South has cars!

Well, Mazda South finally got their first three cars this afternoon: a black base model, a black Sport, and a red GT with red leather and nav. None has any port-installed options, and none was a pre-order - all three are dealer stock!

MaRX8, Javahut (that was you, wasn't it, JH?) and my wife and I all converged on the dealership to take a look and a test drive. As the wife and I arrived, the other two guys were leaving in the red, so we stood around and chatted with Budaman and our sales guy, and pored over the base black untli they returned. It was nice to put faces to names.

After a while, the other two guys went home (sorry didn't get a chance to say bye; may see you back there again real soon when our cars arrive!), and then Budaman asked if I'd like to drive the GT or the Sport. Since I have a Sport on order, I opted for that one. Driving impressions and a brief review to follow in a separate thread.

It was me (MaRX8 and Colin204). MarkRX was there also for a little bit. It was nice meeting everyone, good to see you again Eccles and to meet your wife. This meeting happen basicily because Budaman posted what was happening, and keeping us up to date, almost by the minute. Thanks Budaman (Mike)

It was certianly a fun run around the block. Also we babied it, like it was our own. No High Reving, It's what I would hope someone else would do if they were driving mine, (probably not). I didn't want to get to attached because I'm waiting for mine. Hopefully tomorrow, Maybe Wed, better be Thursday, if it isn't Friday I'm going to go off the wall.

OH MAN, OH MAN! Budaman let you take it home! How Awesome is that! I felt honored that I got to spin it around the block. Mike your Awesome!

Enjoy, hopefully you can get some sleep. HAHAHA

Greetings, man that was awesome. I was hoping they had winning blue, and everyone is right i must say, pics do not do justice. Everyone has their own opinion so i won't go into mine, but when you see this car in person, you'll have a **** eating grin on your face. I was offered to take the red GT on a test drive, but test driving the Rx8 while on duty in a police uniform is not a good idea. I'd like to keep my job for a while longer thank you, but hey, wouldn't that be the ultimate test drive? Don't have to worry when I get pulled over Anyone want to go for a spin? I'll wait till the demo has over 500-1k miles on it. Sorry I didn't get to fully introduce myself or say bye, duty called... Hey budaman, another dealership is giving you some competition. If you are curious about the deal, or think you can match this and strike one of your own, email me markrx@ev1.net See ya'll when the next shipment comes in

Hey guys, since you babied and probably kept the RPMs low I have question.

I have NO issues with the T word. Heck my current car has less, but equally less HP.

A guy at work here, just keeps telling me not enough T it's useless you can't drive in traffic, you'll have to floor it all the time, REV like crazy and drop the clutch to even move.

Ok I know this is a little assinine, but what do you guys have to compare it to?

I have a hyundai tiburon, which I guess is similar in power to a civic or something. Heck they only have 120lb of T but they have only 120HP too.

I really don't see an issue here, but just wondering what it felt like at lower RPMs.

The guy also didn't get the, you can't HEAR the engine at 4K, it's not like a 4 banger that you are going deaf at 4K.

test drive

I took a look at the black sport during my lunch break. It was nice. smaller than I thought it was going to be (i know, odd expectations). But it was nice. I loved the seats. Leg room was good also.

The best part of the trip was being told that they'll get a demo car in the next couple of weeks to have test drives in. They won't be able to sell the car. Just test drive it. You won't have to feel so bad going high on the RPM with the car. I can't wait.

Angry Apparently so does North

So I get a call from my salesman this morning... "don't get too excited, but your car just arrived. they're unloading it right now"

yeah, right, don't get too excited. not surprisingly, the morning was a waste...

Then, two hours later, I get a call from him. "well, turns out I was mistaken. it isn't yours. Its a dealer car, and its the same as yours, only it has the touring package" (mine is package-less). I'm really disappointed, but he says come and look at it (I figure, hmm... dealer bought a more expensive car, hoping I would upgrade...), so I figure, can't harm to look (I still haven't seen one in person), and I go there over lunch.

I wait for 15 minutes, while he finishes with a customer, then he comes and talks to me. "Sorry, the cars got unloaded, and now they're getting serviced. You can't see them now, unfortunately... and, it turns out I was wrong. it is a pre-order".

I was very impressed before (and, Boozehound, I'm currently driving a loaner, so they are genuine about that), but I'm pretty annoyed and disappointed right now. I don't mind going to check out a dealer car, but I wouldn't want to go and man-handle someone elses pre-order.... heaven know's I'd be annoyed if someone was checking out my car.

He's saying they're just waiting for the second truck, and mine should be on that. We'll see.

Just wanted to vent to some people who would understand...

BTW, Boozehound, I hope you put your deposit on a credit card... My salesman (the guy who actually sold me the car, not the guy who later took it over) assured me it was refundable, and I could test drive the car before the final decision, but I still wanted to have Visa on my side...

slightly O/T, anyone know where i could find?

That's so neat that so many of you guys ran into each other, I guess it was planned instead of just a coincidence. But, still neat to build the off-line community, too.

I've got a deposit on a Titanium, black interior, 6spd, Grand Touring, with nav, spare tire, mud flaps, and rear spoiler. I am pretty sure I would prefer one with black/charparal (sp?) seats, and no spoiler. I've called everyone within about 30-50 miles of L.A. and not found anything that's an exact match that isn't presold or they otherwise can tell me about (i get a lot of, "we don't know what we're getting, or what of what we're getting is presold, we'll call you.").

Sounded like a couple of you were or knew dealers, and thus might know where I should call.

I got to drive a red GT with Nav yesterday. I was standing there with MaRX8 with a crowd of people that had gathered in the service bay and one of the salesmen said what are we going to do with the car and Budaman said the first thing is, we are going to let the preorder guys who have been very patient test drive the car and then he tossed MaRX8 and I the keys. This was the best, I am now a Mazda South customer for life. Thanks Budaman for making my week the only bad thing is now I am even more anxious to get my car because I was so impressed with it. I can't even begin to imagine how the rest of you are dealing with not having a budaman inventory manager at your dealership keeping you updated on your car. Thanks Budaman for all your help.
