HPDE in July

Just wondering if anyone else is planning on running with the Driver's Edge at MSR-Cressen in July? I'm pretty sure Twinkie is. Anyone else?

i already ordered the wheels and im 16 so i dont have that much money...... i might just go on the new rims then with stock tires. i wont be driving that fast. i just have to come up with enough money for entry. will try hard though!

Screw the tires ... get brake pads first. :)

Damn you and your logic!! I'll trump you and say...

Screw the pads and change the fluid first! Ha!

I'll get the pump!

Heh ... if you're changing the fluids hope you change the lines first. Won't matter the if the fluid isn't boiling is your lines inflate like ballons. Trumped!

In all seriousness though you probably want to change the following ...
Brake lines to SS (do the clutch line too)
Brake fluid to something decent
Brake pads

Not that you can't have a good time without changing those things but in the Texas summer weather, the ambient temperatures won't allow everything to cool down significantly between sessions. You'll start to notice the brake feeling spongy towards the middle/end of the run days. Not that you can't compensate but it'll allow you to keep your pace up further along into the day. Same with stock pads ... they don't absorb the heat too well and you'll notice that you aren't getting the same braking grip as you were in the first couple of laps. Car will see significantly higher temps, might as well be prepared for it.

All of this will vary based on your experience level and the track but it's a good thing to do.
