Houston - Looking for RX-8
 

Howdy folks!

I had a WB 2006 RX-8 while in the Army but sold it prior to heading to Germany (Got an E92 M3 and had some fun while over there). I am looking for a second car as I have been daily driving a 2012 Jeep Wrangler with lift and mods and am getting a little tired of it. Having to wear earplugs and/or a raincoat in the darn thing weekly isn't perfect (it is nice during the weekend, however, as I live in Galveston!).

I bought a Jeep Renegade and it turned out to be a lemon. While home visiting my Dad, I got to drive his 2007 RX-8 and am have decided to start searching for a well maintained example. With Harvey everything I can find is junk, an automatic, or riced the heck out by somebody who has no clue how to take care of a rotary. Dad's first new car was a 1983 GSL and it was my first car too; bottom line is we are both familiar and don't mind the quirks. Any tips on finding a decent example in these parts? I want a manual, would prefer blue and a S2, and a sunroof would be nice. Thoughts? Suggestions? I've done some engine R&Rs on a NB miata so am not afraid to getting my elbows dirty if it needs a little work. Looks like I just missed out on a Blue R3 in Houston *sigh*.

Watch out for water-damaged cars that may not be revealed as such ...

You're probably going to have to travel a bit for what you're looking for.

Yeah all I can find are a) automatics, b) 2004s with 115k miles, c) in WA or NY, or d) "on engine 3." This may take longer than I thought.

My advice is to find one with a good body and a bad engine and swap in a reman.
