Fuel level gauge issue

Hello! I’m not sure if I have posted on right one, but if not, apologize it in advance. &( I wanted to post it on others, but I have limited access. Is this because I left USA? &( Yeap. I took my RX8 to Korea last year because I love him (although there are no Mazda dealer shop in KR).

I have a fuel level gauge problem on my RX8. After cleaning the fuel pump, fuel level gauge on Torque pro app (connected with OBDII) bounces up and down. So weird. Although fuel level gauge on the dashboard is stable and OK, the gauge on Torque pro app is only dancing whenever I drive. I am wondering if there are anyone who have same issue with me.

Might be a fuel pump problem? Actually, fuel pump on RX8 is recall issue, so I suspect the fuel pump was damaged when I clean it. Also, if fuel level sensor (sender) is damaged, I think both gauges on dashboard as well as Torque pro app should bounce up and down. But only the gauge on Torque pro app is dancing. This is the reason why I suspect the fuel pump, not the fuel level sender (sense). But not sure, so I need your advice.

Thank you so much for your attention.

The fuel gauge in the dash goes through a filtering process that smooths out its movements and keeps it from bouncing around.

How large are the fluctuations that you are seeing in Torque?

If this is a problem, it's probably not with the fuel pump but the two fuel level sensors in the tank (yes, there is one on each side of the saddle).

Every car does this. You fuel will slosh around quite a bit as you drive. If you are backing up slowly in a quiet driveway, you can actually hear all the splashing.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

You haven't seen my old Corolla's gauge. The thing will actually lift up/drop quite a bit just from going up/down a small hill. And I got it way below the E and still have 7 litres/~2 gallons sitting in the tank, LOL.

My RX-8 shows more fuel than I actually have, which is a mild inconvenience that has cost me a pump.
