Had the recall check done. Nothing needed replaced, just got the PCM reprogram.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I made it to Germany fine. The 8 got a few gouges in the rear bumper during shipment. The shipper tried to low ball me with cost to fix it but I found a local body shop that fixed it within that price... fixed it nice. I'll post pics if you are curious. The black part of the rear bumper is now Nordic Green Mica like the rest of the car... it looks sweet.

I just got my recall notice too... great... I can't get that checked out until I get back with the car. Mazda of El Paso told me before I left, "Yes Sir, your car is covered under warranty in Europe. If you need to have any warranty work done while you are there you just need to take it to a local Mazda service shop."

There is one about 30 minutes away but they can't do this recall, my car is US specs and they only work on European specs if it is warranty. They can help me but would have to charge me for anything they do. MNAO confirmed this too.

Damn liars at Mazda of El Paso. They told me they spoke with MNAO and were told the warranty was good here. LIARS.. sorry I just needed to vent.

I finished my recall.... Larry was not there when I picked up the car. Joshua took care of me. I don't think he has deep knowledge of what has done. I asked what did they do to my car, and he start reading the things on the papers..... I ask how bad was my engine mount. He said they are pretty bad that they have to replace it. The also update the FW and have new spark plugs.... I am glad that I get out of that hyundai.

Hey guys/gals I just joined and was seeing if any of the other RXs in town met up. I bought mine in january of this year and there is still not that many around. I had the aem intake on it but the dealer made me vhange it to honor the warranty, I at least got a new motor and a whole bunch of other things that were wrong with my car(Nimbus). I just hated that it took them 5 weeks to fix my car. If anyone wants to meet hit me up. I have pictures os my car on myspace www.myspace.com/mspiderm, I am just too lazy to resize them for here...

Welcome! We only had one meet here in El Paso, you can see pictures of it in this thread (there was only 4 of us there, though). Not sure why the dealer made you take off your intake. I have gone to our dealer with all my aftermarket crap on it, including my nitrous kit and never had any problems with them. I still get warranty work done there too.

Germany is ok. We saw that El Paso got snow the other day. We don't have any yet. The family is bummed about that.

I was at Copper Mountain when it snowed here in El Paso, but they did get a pretty good dusting. I requested to move to Bragg. I'm getting close to that time where I need to start looking at where I would like to retire from and NC will probably be it.

I hear you about the retirement thing.. After my tour here in Germany, the next one should be my last. Not sure where I want to go yet though, that is still over 2 years away. Take care and good luck!

One final bump for me in this thread. Just wanted to say take care to all my fellow El Paso RX8 owners. I am fully settled down in North Carolina now, so it will be up to one of you to knock the dust off of this thing every now and then.

damn hey i was looking for an el paso thread... i live in the east side of el paso i barely got my rx8 last week... its funny because there really isn't that many rx8's here and whenever i don't drive my 8 i see one of you guys.

Yeah, a real lack of 8's in the area. If you read this whole thread, you'll see how hard it was to put a "meet" together. The people I did get to meet in the area were all great people though, so maybe quality is better then quantity.

Haa...I was JUST down there this weekend and got back to Austin this morning...

I noticed how little RX's I saw...a single white one...that was it...everywhere I went I had people staring at the car...it was wierd. Went to a party and had some teenagers taking pics of the thing with cell phones...

Had at least four ricers rev at me and get served up some pure pwnage...and then picked up some chicos before heading out...now I got sauce on my rug...

Dont EVEN get me started on all the freakin bugs on my nose due to the drive back...my car USED to be silver...now its yellow with wings...

well yeah i only know one person with an rx8 here and his name is dom (winning blue rx8) other then that i only see an rx8 once and i while ...

and yesterday i was going to the post office to pick up a package and another rx8 was going the same direction so i drove up next to him all casually and was going to give a wave to ...... and it was an old man who ended up just glaring at me...
