DFW: SSV anyone?
 

Nothing like taking your car to the dealership for compression check and them coming back trying to get a few grand out of you.

Anyone in the DFW area had to remove/clean the SSV? It seems I've got it in my future, according to the dealership that's telling me it's sticking (without generating a code). I've found Jon316G's video, etc, and I will be doing this, but just checking to see if any of the folks up here have previous experience with it.

And for some reason, they were really surprised that I had an OEM cat laying around my house when I've got an aftermarket on the car (something else they offered to replace for a nice cost).

Brandon and Antonio did it. A couple of others, I think. Seems like it took a long time.

adam and steve helped me with mine. it takes some time but not too diffifcult

on the bright side though if you get a new engine you wont have to worry about it

Which makes me wonder why it'd be sticking with only ~30k miles on the motor.

Yeah me, Adam, Steve and Antonio had an SSV cleaning day. It's not too hard just takes time... Let me know if you want help...

Weird that it's sticking at 30k. If you don't want to clean it you can seafoam and rev the shit outta it. Should free it.

Mine was sticking without throwing a code too. Dealer replaced it for free since they had just replaced my motor 3K miles before. Seafoam will do the trick IF it is not too covered in carbon

Also... How did they come to the conclussion your SSV is sticking without it generating a code? Seems like a little BS to me. I've seen the monkeys in those tech suits. Sounds like their. Trying to shaft you.

If your SSV was sticking then you'd be feeling a decent power loss since you dont have a APV since

I'm guessing they checked the SSV because I complained about my car dying after running it really hard and then coming to a stop. This happened a couple times on the last McKinney cruise. It doesn't do it in normal driving, so if it is getting sticky (not to be confused with stuck) in the open position, I believe the result would be it dying at idle. Since my normal daily driving doesn't leave it in the open state for extended periods (unlike when driving the sisters, which it died then too), it may be that.

I'm wondering if it's possible they didn't disassemble the SSV when I got my new engine? hrm. Makes you wonder.
