My 2006 RX8 check engine light came on on my way to work today and when I got to work I popped the hood to find the engine smoking. I'm in down town Dallas and need to find a dealership or garage to get it to. Any suggestions?

Secondly, think it's better to have it towed than try to drive it?

I don't think there are many dealerships real close to downtown, but there should be enough shops. If it's smoking, I'd be afraid to drive it more than a block. No other warning lights have come on?

Nope no other warning lights. Temp and oil gauges are fine too.

It was running perfectly fine until this morning.

Without knowing more about what is going on with your car I cant really tell you if you should drive it or not. I would check the oil level and coolant levels then keep an eye out on the guages if you do decide to drive it.

I dont know any independant mechanics that I would trust around there to work on a rotary. The nearest dealership is probably Freeman on 183 near 35E. I live near downtown dallas and I usually visit town north mazda in richardson. you might want to call and talk with a service advisor to see if they can give you any more insight. Talk with Penny at town north, she always treats me right.
