DFW Install Party Anyone???
 

I just got my set of Tein S-Tech springs in the mail today. I ordered them from DPE earlier this week, like on wednesday, and they already got here. Now, i just need to put them on.

I have limited Mechanichal knowladge, and would love it if anyone out there also needed an install party. I have never done any suspension work, but i am confident in my abilities if i was shown how to do it. If anyone else has anything they need to install, maybe we can help each other out.

for my springs, i think i can rent a spring compressor from auto zone. but will look more into it. I just got them in today, and this weekend i am going to look into some of the DIY forums for some help. or if anyone else has already done it before, that would help a ton

I'd jump in and help, but alas, I know nothing about installing springs but would definitely love to learn from some wiser folks.

You can rent spring compressors for autozone, just pay a deposit and they give it back to you when you return it. As far as the springs there is a very good write up in the wheel/suspension section.

I'd be up for it if it were on a saturday, that fell between organic, cell bio, physics, and NT tests!

I'll soon have a carbing rear bar to install (4 or 8 bolts, cake)

I'd be up for one, as long as it's after organic Thursday morning -_-

i have a mazsport cooling mod that needs installing

i would help if on a Saturday and the old lady dont have me doing anything. Did the coil overs on my honda before i got my 8. was not to hard just took some time. :rock:

Sounds like we need to do it on a saturday. My friend is a mechanic for Porsche, and he said that he would be down to help me with my springs. he said that it isnt too hard to install. just a little time consuming.

anyone else out there? we also need to find a place to do this. any ideas? i still live with my folks (sad i know), but if we had to, we could do it at my place (downtown dallas), and the tools are limited.

springs wont be a problem to install. and u really only need a ratchet set (metric). U wont really even have to suppress the srpings i believe, as long as u have ur car off the ground and ur rotors are dangling, u should have enough space to put the springs in no problem. If it is right around 1 P.M. or so on Saturday or Sunday, i wouldnt mind helping. i have a few buddies that have done it on their wrx and tsx

alright guys, i got anxious today, and i went over to my friends house to try and install my springs. to make a long story short, i still have my STOCK springs on. i was sorta dissapointed at my failed efforts, but i learned a lot today.

I tried to follow one of the DIY threads on this forum, but its poor directions let to many gusses. we were kinda working in the dark, since we did not really know what we were doing. we decided to put everything back together before i couldn't drive my car home today.

Has anyone had any experience on working with the 8's suspension? and/or done the spriing install? i really dont want to have to have a real mechaninc put them on, if i can figure it out, but its looking more and more like a safer bet.

Sovine (stephen) got his springs put in by Jenkinscrew (Chris) two install parties ago. Looked pretty simple. Dunno if Chris is willing to have another one already, lol, dude really takes out a lot of time and effort for us

The front wishbones aren't bad. In fact, they're pretty easy once you've done em a few times (we did 4 cars in 3 weeks). It's the multi-link in the rear that's the PITA. They will still take about 3-4 hrs to do regardless. I've got Tein S.Techs and Koni yellows, so I can give you a hand if you need. Air tools are a plus, but not required. A good jack is a major plus.

I am trying to remember if it was the Konis or the Teins that required the bump stops to be cut (think it was the teins), so you may need a hack saw for that, but it's not a big deal.

I seem to recall the spring rate on the Teins being such that they'll end up ruining the stock shocks, so you may want to look into that and verify. If that turns out to be the case, you may decide to do your shocks at the same time, instead of having to take it all apart again. Just a suggestion.
