Can anyone help me?! Valet did me DIRTY!! HELP
Last weekend I was out at a bar called Manhattens in uptown. You always valet your car there. When I get my car back, (my baby, black 04 rx8 gt) I see the dumba$$ valet backed it into something and scuffed my rear bumper and left some deep chips in the paint. I filed a claim. THEY DENIED ME!Tthe valet company is assuming no liability for damaging my car... Basically leaving me out to dry. ( RP VALET IS THE COMPANY ) They are all over Dallas. And as a fyi if they damage your car.... Its on you! SH*TTY HUH! QUESTION......... Does anyone know anyone that could hook a brotha up on some cheap body work to repair this... since i now have to pay for this out of my own pocket.. even tho they screwed it up.... I need help!!

Are you required to Valet or is it an option?? It seems to me that if you are forced to valet the car it should be their responsibility. If not, they can joy ride all around and ram into shit all night long with no accountability for their actions. Doesn't seem right. I would fight this one. I don't have much (any) experience in this matter, just my $.02. Can anyone else help him out that would know a little more?? Good luck nonetheless!

There is no parking area I know of at Manhattens... So basically your forced to Valet... But that shouldnt be the issue.. If they park you car, whether your forced to, or you opt to let them. It is in their hands. Therefore any damage that is done they should be held liable.... Its unfortunate to see they way they do business.. And the lack of responcibility they actually take when they make a mistake... I WILL NEVER VALET AGAIN. I just need to find a good body-shop guy that can give a rx8'r a hook up on a bumper paint fix.....

If I have to Valet park, I usually just pay them and park it myself. I really am uncomfortable with someone else holding on to my keys and possibly going through my stuff. I've never had a problem with the valet guy just taking the money and letting me park my own. i'm really sorry to hear what happened to your car. you might want to file a complaint with the better business bureau.

Never valet. Never. I agree with Texas8, I find it hard to believe they have ZERO liability.....Policy or not.

I would complain to the club as well, they need to know what kind of service you are getting.

I work with parking & valet companies regularly. Valet's are responsible for any damage to your vehicle, while the vehicle is in their control. They usually deny all claims automaticly. Getting them to pay for the repair may be difficult.

I decided that my best option will be to take them to small claims court. $67.00 and I will have a judge decide the verdict vs. the valet company. I hoping she will listen, and deliver justice.. seeing this as a potential common problem. and help me stick it to the man!

I think you can get punitive damages for alot more than your $67, for preventing them from lying to there next customer. Hope it goes well.
Ive heard alot about manhattan bar in the last year, but havent had a chance to get out there. Do you usually hang out around the uptown/mckinney ave area? -Peace |
Good luck. I'm curious as to the outcome, so keep us posted please.
