Brake Pads

Last week my car started squealing.... I know my pads are low but was wondering if anyone has any input on the ceramic pads for our cars from Brake Check??

They quoted me around $130 per axle, which I am willing to pay as long as the pads last. The ceramic pads they say are the good ones, not the cheap ones.

I drive my car often so I need to get it done as soon as possible before there is some real damage.

Thanks.

You could just get the Hawk HPS from Racing Beat. $61 for the front, and $60 for the rear. I have them installed on mine, and my old ones would 'squeal' now they don't make any noise. I put them on myself. There's a DIY on here, so I mean, you could save some cash...

the hawks are the shizzle, I have those now with the racingbrake.com rotors and I love them, just got them bedded yesterday and now my car stops crazy quick, but it's cool because the initial bite doesn throw you through the window :) I'd be weary of brake check/just brakes etc. touching my car, but that's just me.

I'm fixing to do mine, but too bad I already have a set of spare pads. (oem) That sounds like a great deal. I'll keep this in mind for my self!

Wow. The manager over at brake check on lamar right there at 35/38th 1/2 street actually talked rotaries with me. He used to own a 95' RX-7 blah blah blah. Anyway, he gained my trust enough for me to let him service my 8. He said that only a few ceramic pads suck which means have a high amount of organic material instead of mostly ceramic. So anyway, I will let you know how they are. I am getting all 4 done picking it up in a couple hours.

I would have waited and done the rotor and all that but the stock stopping power of the 8 was good enough while the original pads were in good shape. I am just hoping that these pads wont give off as much break dust as the OEM pads. My shiny black rims turn grey in a couple days after a wash on those OEM.

ceramic pad are the new technology, they stop better, and less dust, I use hawk ceramic pad.

Yeah, so I had to buy new rotors too. They couldn't resurface the OEM ones without going below spec. So I bought a pair of brembo front rotors... /shrug

I guess I shouldnt have taken care of the squeal faster than within a week.
