19 RX-8's at El Dorado Mazda in McKinney...

I just test drove a 6spd RX-8 this morning at El Dorado Mazda in McKinney. I dealt with David (forgot his last name but I have his card) and he was really cool. I didn't see anything on the stickers about mark-ups and he didn't try to pressure sell me one bit. We went for a drive, came back and I told him I'd get back to him.

They did have several 8's for sale in several colors. I counted 19 on my way out. So if you are looking for one in North Texas, you may want to check them out.

As for the test drive... It was pretty fun. The torque feels a little lacking but I come from Honda stock so lack of torque is nothing new. I think it has a lot of potential though. I see it as a new project to play with. My Teg is fun but I think it may not be as hard to let it go as I had first thought! hehe!

We'll see what happens.

You were lucky with ED Mazda. Was David a young salesman? If yes, I dealt with him as well. He was alright, except that he was scared of calling me (or plain simle forgot to call me) and confirm my cars arrival. When I threatened to walk away he got a deal in 5 minutes.

And besides their financing branch is from the worst I have ever seen. Who doesn't tell you what their financing hi & lows are over the phone?

The guys woulnd't take PeopleFirst's pre-approved check, and wouldn't tell me how their financing compared to theirs....so...sorry, Im not going back there, except to drive on 75 up to Allen.

First of all, if you could get such a good deal at Bill Hood why would you go somewhere else??

Second of all, El Dorado took very good care of me. Maybe they knew I was SERIOUS about getting an 8 and not just waisting their time...I don't know.

yeah i am not serious about an rx-8 at all i don't own one i wanted to drive 10 hours to save a couple thousand off the car, but in the long run it was worth it i took my dad and on the way back we left shreveport with a up 1000 between us. Dallas dealers do not like to do business, there is too much money and not enough sense, dallas has the most number of millionares then any other city, grant it we really don't have many multimillionares we just have people that life the life style. so stupid money allows dealers to be dicks

I had a good no-pressure experience with Hugh at ED Mazda. I came in on a rainy night as not to keep them from dealing with "buying today customers" and he and I sat in the car shooting the poop for at least a good hour after my test drive. As long as the finance/management doesn't screw me, I'll probably buy there as soon as I can afford to drop the $$. I was glad that I wasn't dealing with some young kid that didn't know a thing about the car.

Gentlemen/ladies,
I am stationed up here @Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls. I have heard of McKinney but am not exactly sure where it is. I have been trying to expand my list of possible dealers and being up here somewhat limits them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

McKinney is right above Plano, TX which is about 30 miles north of Dallas up 75. Look up El Dorado Mazda in McKinney on Yahoo yellow pages or something to get the address. Hopefully that helps ya out!

Good luck!
Gary
