RX-8 Illustrated Digital Artwork Group Buy

I've done a few of these over the years, enjoy doing them, and now I'm offering them to the club.
I am selling low color count (8-16 color), digital illustration of your car, bike, whatever.

What You Get:
You will get multiple sized digital copies and a framed print if desired.
There will be 3 general sizes for framing: Small (8.5x11 paper), Medium (11x17 to 13x19 paper), and large (anything bigger than 13x19).
Digitally I can give you the files in any size desired, and as a jpeg, tiff, or pdf.

Pricing:
Digital only - $50
Small frame - $100
Medium frame - $125
Large frame - $150 and up. I will have to outsource printing for anything larger than 13x19 which raises production costs significantly.

I'm requiring a $50 deposit (the digital portion cost) to start an illustration. I hate to do it this way, but each illustration takes me anywhere from 20 to 30 hours or so of work. Since this is of your personal car, I can't really sell it to someone else if you back out.

All pricing includes shipping to the cont. 48 states. Out of the continental US? PM me and I'll get updated shipping prices for you.

How It Works:
Post in this thread or send me a PM if you want one. ( I have moved everyone over from the feeler thread already)
I will reply to you with a PM asking you about about what you want (digital/framed/size, color or b&w, and a few other things). I will also ask you for the picture you want illustrated as well. Once we settle on what you want, I can give you a rough estimate on when I can get started and when I can get the final product to you. I won't ask for the deposit until i'm ready to start working on it. I don't want anyone to feel like they're getting cheated and waiting for nothing.

Each illustration will likely take me 3 to 4 days to do since it's very time consuming, I have a day job, and can only handle being in front of a computer for so long each day. During this time, I will create each person an private gallery on my pic hosting site that i will update as i get stuff done on their illustration. You will be sent a link for it and can view it as much as you want to see the progress on your illustration. Hopefully this will cut down on PM traffic here on the site, and keep you entertained. I'll most likely send you a PM when it's close to compete so you can pick a version to be framed. I tend to have a couple of different ideas for background treatment and I want you to have what you like most if I'm printing and framing it for you. If you're getting digital art only, I will pm you and let you know that it's done and you will get copies of all final variations in any sizes you specified. Depending on the size and shape of the image, I will most likely send you some frame choices as well.

For those getting prints framed, I will pm you for final payment and promptly send out the final product upon receipt.

I will keep a list of people at the end of this thread that will be updated with progress, shipped, deposit, paid, estimated start date, etc.

What I Need From You:
A good picture of your car, bike, whatever you want done. It needs to be at least 800x600 @ 72dpi and can't be pixelated. The higher resolution the better here. If you have questions about a pic you're thinking of, pm it to me and ask.
$50 deposit when I start your drawing.
Input along the way (see above)
Final payment and a shipping address for framed work.
Permission to use a watermarked version of your final art for my portfolio. (not a requirement)

Other Things to Know:
Please be patient if you are waiting for me to do an illustration for you. As I stated above, they're very time consuming and I have other responsibilities.
Please do not crowd this thread with pictures. Please send them to me via pm.
If you are unhappy with the price, please PM me. I don't want to turn this thread into a pricing war. I can assure you that this is a bargain compared to "Professional" illustration prices.
Feel free to spread the word.
This is not a race, I plan to keep this Group Buy going as long as there's interest. If you're interested but don't have any pics right now or you're still working on the car, post your interest anyway. I'll be ready to get started whenever you are.

Dont really understand what you do...Is it a highly edited photo or are you hand drawing and painting based on the submitted photo?

fuztupnz 02-17-2012 03:59 PM

It's a point to point digital line drawing of a photo. Depending on the complexity, I'll use plugins to recreate the background, but the car will always be hand drawn using points to create lines to create shapes. There are easier ways to do it, but they aren't as crisp or stylized if you will. The only reason I'll do it for the background is because it's often a distraction from the car when it's drawn the same way.

fuztupnz 02-17-2012 06:37 PM

Just let me know when you're ready shady. :bigok:

fuztupnz 02-17-2012 08:34 PM

pm's sent to interested parties.

EricB 02-19-2012 05:34 AM

Not bad, youve seen my work too, I dont have time anymore with school unfortunately. Full support from me, i love vector work. As far as detail goes, for me, the bigger the more detailed and accurate, but it has to be crisp. Reflections also make cars look pretty.

fuztupnz 02-19-2012 09:12 PM

Thanks Eric :bigok:

You've got some nice stuff as well.

fuztupnz 02-21-2012 10:01 PM

Framed pic added to post #2.

Color looks a little off because of all the yellowish lights in the house, but you get the idea of a frame and matte piece.

Burger 02-22-2012 07:38 AM

Looks fantastic in person. Thanks Fuz!

fuztupnz 02-29-2012 08:31 AM

Sorry for the lack of updates guys. I've been busy with work and spent all last weekend wrenching on my car to get it ready for spring. I'm back to work on drawings.

As it sits, I'm essentially done with 9k's and almost done with J8675309's.

Chris and Rotary_Redliner: expect a pm today or tomorrow about getting started on yours.

fuztupnz 02-29-2012 06:39 PM

list updated. More finished pics added.

fuztupnz 03-09-2012 06:14 PM

Chris's artwork is finished.

L337fpc and Rotary_Redliner are up next. Also starting a second pic for 9k :bigok:

9krpmrx8 03-15-2012 09:27 PM

Dude, I got mine today and it is just perfect, Both the framed pic and the other print are just amazing. I showed it to grungepup and he loved it as well. If you guys have not done this then you need to. I will keep this forever. I can't wait to see how the second one i sent you looks. I will upload pics in a bit :)

THANKS MAN!

fuztupnz 03-16-2012 01:49 PM

Thanks 9k :bigok:

Update:

Waiting for work.

I updated the first post and the final art posts.

I hate to do it, but i have to raise the printed price $25 for the small and medium prints. Unfortunately shipping is killing me on these and is almost double what I expected.

fuztupnz 03-27-2012 10:40 PM

Website is up as well if anyone wants to spread the word outside of the forum.

Check it out: http://www.artyourcar.com

RX8Soldier 03-28-2012 01:00 AM

Interested.
I'd have to wait until summer time, or even fall.
I'll sub, to keep me updated, and to remind me :)

fuztupnz 03-28-2012 05:31 AM

Word. I'll add you to the list so I don't forget. I plan on offering this for a while :)
