|
hmmmm.. i gota check my mail
|
stupid pacific ocean has to be so big, and shipping takes so long... or maybe i'm just impatient :) hehehe
|
hey paul, i got mine. that's weird...
|
If I wanted to buy one now, do you have enough available to possibly ship tomorrow?
|
yes, I have 10 that are ready to ship.
|
question, how considerable is considerable force that would stop the sunroof? mine doesn't seem to stop...
oh, and is it normal for it to have some sort of delay before the button works again? seems i have to wait 2-3 sec before the button responds again. |
Well, you can see from the second video I posted. I'm not exactly sure how much force it takes, but I wouldn't want to get my finger caught in it.

I meant a DIY for this with an aftermarket alarm which opens the sunroof and windows by pushing unlock on the key fob like BMW's have.
If you wanted it to do it all the time regardless of the situation then it could be done. Most people do not want to open their windows everytime they unlock their car though. :) |
ok, it stops. not a problem. as been said, only idiots would stick out something anyway. how bout the delayed button response?

The circuit is a timer. You have to wait for it to time out before pressing any buttons. About 3 seconds.

The keyless system would have to have an additional trigger to tell it to roll the windows down. I believe this works if they hold the unlock button down instead of just a press.

are you gonna get one?

Yeah that's what I meant about holding down the button, not pressing it. Sorry for not being clear.

Yeah sure. I will take one. Do you want my real name or my screen name signed on the waiver?

RR: ok Ü thanks man. sorry if i'm being annoying with all the questions. i'm just excited with the new laziness.
4 years: i haven't done the delayed power when key off. i forgot to drop by the store for the in-line fuse. but i'll take a look at the connectors tomorrow morning when there's ample light hehe. it was already dark when i did this module  |
Payment sent. I am sending you a pm with my shipping address.

|
Raizen, thanks, it should be fun.. this is my third time around...
I cant wait to get home and check the mail :) |
got it, now to get it installed along with the extra power mod...
|
Thanks RR- I got mine a few days ago and installed it today. Works like a charm! I was so happy that I kept playing with it as we were driving. The GF was none to happy (she doesn't like my auto-fixation).
I've got a question (probably a stupid one). The tilt button works just like it should. The auto open button works just like it should, however the auto close actually requires me to press the tilt close button. My slide close button no longer functions. Is this how it's supposed to work or did I do the install wrong? I cut the red wire, put one end into the wire tap and the orange wire into the other end then crimped. The other end of the red wire is just hanging there (the end that goes to the buttons). Did I do this wrong? It seems odd that the slide close button is now non-functional. Even if it is working properly, I love it. One touch and it closes. So much better than having to hold my finger there. I hate that. Awesome job, well worth the $$. |
you're not suppose to cut the red wire. That's why it's not working right.

Ok, then how would I "slide" the wire tap onto it. It didn't see a way for the tap to open in half? I had to cut the red wire or else there was no way to get the red wire into the wire tap.
|
2 different holes =/
|
lol, you are looking at the wrong end of the wire splice.

the wire splice is open on both ends on one side and only open on one end on the other.
|
my module suddenly stopped working... will take it out later and try to see what's wrong...

But seriously, how do I get the wire tap OVER the red wire. The red wire is connected at both ends. The only way to get it into the tap is to cut the wire or split the tap in half. Does the tap "open up" or does the wires disconnect. I know I know. A trained monkey is smarter than me. |
Or solder it if you can.
I don't use those wire taps and have about 25-30 in my collection now! I solder and heat shrink everything! |
Soldering is always the best route. Once you have crimped the wire splice, it's pretty hard to open again. The red wire slides into the tap.

OMG. You guys are just killing me here.
Ok, look, first off- awesome mod, even with the way I have it installed it's way better than factory. Great job Rodger and thanks. Now will someone please tell the not so well trained monkey (me) how to SLIDE the wire tap onto the wire. The tap doesn't open. The wire is connected at both ends. I don't know how to put the tap onto the red wire without cutting it- IF I CAN'T GET THE TAP TO "OPEN" then how do I get the red wire into it??????? I'm not a total idiot, believe it or not. I have installed plenty of head units and done minor mod work to my vehicles. I also work in an industry that requires limited EE and ME knowledge. I use solder and good old electrical tape for everything. I can tell you EVERYTHING you've ever wanted to know about how a strain gauge works and it's sensitivities to thermal expansion. I simply can not figure out how to get the wire tap OVER the red wire without cutting the wire or cutting the wire tap in half. Any help? I have never used a wire tap, it seemed VERY simple- except it appeared that I had to cut the red wire to feed it into the open end of the tap. I don't know what else to say- was I supposed to pry the tap open first? Mine came packaged so both "halves" were already closed. PS: Yes, you do not want me to diffuse a bomb. I'll blow some serious shit up. |
the vampire clamp should open up.....
|
do you want me to send you some more splices?
maybe you got a defective splice?!?!?!

No need, but thanks for the offer. I can pick one up (Radio Shack I suppose?). I just need to know if it is supposed to "open" up then close around the wires?
Imagine this: I have a cable connected to the ceiling and floor of my garage. Can't be disconnected. I'm now supposed to put a piece of PVC pipe around it. What do I do? I either cut the cable or I cut the pipe in half then clamshell it around the cable. I can't "slide" it over the cable since the pipe has no opening and the cable is connected at both ends. Please don't feel obligated, it's totally cool- but if you or anyone else has time to post a pic or two of the splice being attached to the wire (the initial instructions on page 1 show it already clamped) that would be helpful. EDIT: I will try to post pics of my setup and what I'm working with tomorrow. |

one side should be open on the whole length.. the red wire will go through there. the other side has only one end open, the wire from the module goes there. |
awesome, thanks. I think mine is defective, I'll pick up a new one and redo it. I appreciate the help Laythor.
|
just go to walmart in the automotive section......youll find what you need...
|
Yep. Just checked, mine has no "open side". It's sealed off. I feel al little less inept now. I'm going to Walmart tonight and will redo it next weekend. Cool.
|
sometimes the ends have some extra plastic flashing that can be pulled off or cut away with an exacto knife.
|
got mine in today!!! woo hoo!!
leaving for japan in the morning, so i will put it in when i return. thanks RR!! |
