Good Guy: BHR----Must read before buying elsewhere

I have purchased a bunch of things from Charles R. Hill, but the latest was a reinforced clutch. Shipping was relatively quick and the product came in perfect condition. The part I want everyone to hear about is that he walked me through the entire installation process. I am pretty inept when it comes to installing things on my car, but Charles was very helpful in guiding me. He took a lot of time out of his day to guide me, and then he talked to me for an hour on things I should look into for my car so I can put together a very good setup.

Without Charles, I would not have been able to install the reinforced clutch pedal and would have ended up paying a mechanic to do it for me. Instead, Charles donated much of his time, which he could have spent doing anything else since the transaction had ended, and made me feel really good about purchasing parts from him.

When I had an issue with the clutch pedal making sounds, he offered to ship me a new one, without him even being 100% sure it was defective; he did this because he doesn't want any of his products to be less than great and have any customer less than completely satisfied (it turned out that it only needed silicone lube, which he instructed me to do and how to do it).

His attitude of "when you purchase my parts you purchase my time" is one of a kind and very desirable.

I know Charles R. Hill and BHR get a lot of great praise on this site, but I wanted to share my story and my experience on how he guided me so thoroughly with the installation. For anyone out there looking for parts, talk to Charles, he is extremely knowledgeable on how the 8 works and how parts work with it and has great products!

Can't wait to do more business with you Charles!

Thanks,

Sean

sounds on par with CRH's nature. i know that if/when i finally look at performance parts there is no way i would not look to give my business to him.

Jeez, I've got to find some extra money to buy parts from him! Looking for coilovers soon, anyone want to guess where I will be checking first?

I'll save you a LOT of money by making sure you actually need them, first, before simply slapping them in your hands. In most cases, people are buying stuff without really knowing how well, if at all, it works on the RX-8. Matter of fact, most of the vendors you see hiding in their vendor forums know VERY LITTLE about how the parts they sell integrate with the RX-8 and offer NO after-sale care. This is why the industry calls them "whores". They take your money, move on to the next "John", and if you have a problem you're screwed.

One of the vendors about which I speak actually had the nerve to use my name, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, on their website to bolster nitrous sales to RX-8 owners. How's that for business ethics? Another one has been running around the Euro forums lying about certain BHR products while not having the balls to bring the conversation here so we can debate it like grown men. A third one accepted a part from me at cost+shipping for personal use as a professional courtesy and ended up selling it to a customer. And these are just a few of the stories about what happens around this industry.

I thought I was the only one who caught that...

Wow, that's a pretty glowing recommendation. I'll be considering BHR when I figure out what my car needs.. :dunno:

Because I thought for sure that you were aware of it!! If I ever see anything like that again somewhere, I will definitely let you know Ray.

CRH is awesome. Good guy, and I'm going to call him and bug him about the clutch pedal this weekend... now that I have my car back I have to put mine in. :)

And yay doth BHR look down from the heavens and saw his minions laboring mightily. He gazed upon then in his benevolence and spoke "So sayeth your master, go forth and produce more performance items for me"

From the book of Charles to the Rotorheads.

laythor 11-03-2008 08:16 PM

wow, I just figured out what BHR really stands for: Benevolent Holy Ray. You are a sneaky one

laythor 11-03-2008 08:21 PM
