Question Is It Wrong? Poll

is it wrong that i want to buy a honda crx and make it a high 12 sec go cart?
ive become really interested in them and the fact they most of them weigh less that a ton......and will cost less to make fast...so i was thinkin about not boosting my 8 and just getting a crx doing a swap to a b18 and boosting that for 250 to 300hp and of course make it rock solid suspension wise......and i will definatly not rice it out il keep it clean not ricey......IS THIS WRONG....WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I'd do an old corolla, but CRX is also fun.

I'm growing tired of spending $$ on cars, a cheap project car is what I have been thinking about too. Speed/$$ ratio is much higher.

Personally i would go with a 94-97 miata. out of all the cars i owned
Japan
89 Toyota Starlet Turbo
86 AE trueno
91 FC

USA
94 Sentra
97 Miata
current RX8 and Mazda 3

the miata to me, is the best car i ever owned. love the how agile and controlling of the car. and since you want a Go cart. the miata is probably your best bet

but if you do get miata, make sure to buy 94-97 (if you like 1st gen miata like me. i think 2nd gen is ugly.) with Torsen LSD. the years before that, dont come wiht any.

but its funny, before i moved to the US, i always think of miata to be a girly car. but after owning one as a DD (6years), i want another one. most likely going to pick one up again after i pay off the 8 ( only 3 more payments to go : )

also i picked dont do it. to me FF car is for grocery shopping . just my opinion, guess that is why i use my MZ3 as go to point A to B.

I wish had pics of my car, before some lady ran the stop sign.

this car is clean though

CRX is cool. So is the RWD Corolla.
But Miata easily tops them both. Cheap to buy. Cheap to make fast. Bulletproof reliable. Has the best driving dynamics of the three.

I would get a miata, funny thing is I saw some dude pull some crazy drift u-turn in one at an intersection in a perfectly controlled fashion and slide into a parking spot today :rofl

Made me want one even more even though what he did was completely reckless. Miatas are literally the best selling sports car of all time, and yes I do consider them a sports car.

If I sell my BMW I'm buying one and possibly getting rid of my 8 and putting the money into that. (I owe around 14k on the 8)

Im gonna go against the rotary grain and say hell yea do it!!! Have the CRX to beat up on and have fun and keep the 8 as your nice car. Im looking into possibly a 240SX hatch as a fun project/ DD car when I get a little more money. THe grand prix will have to hold up for now though.

DO IT DO IT!

You never mentioned selling the 8 and turbo charge is the wrong thing to do to a 8. No reliability.

So YES.

What are you trying to go for? Something fast and great handling? Something fast? Either way, I think a CRX is the wrong way to go. Give us more info on what you wan to do.

I think I would go:

Miata
240sx
Corolla(AE-86)
300zx(non turbo)

Turbo 300zx falls out of this price range.

I like the idea of the Miata better than the Honda.

Look into getting a 1st GEN DSM if you want a real tuner car on the cheap.

1g DSM = Eclipse, Laser, Talon from 90-94

Obviously you want the AWD Turbo version. It takes some skill to build on of these cars but the community and how-to's are the best for any other type of car I have ever seen. There is nothing you can't find online with a step-by step for these.

Check out dsmtuners and vfaq .com
