Worried about engine failure? Don't buy a German car.

"A recent survey has found that German cars, including Audi, BMW and VW, are among the worst when it comes to engine failure."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/...-survey.html\\

"Warranty Direct, which with 50,000 policies on its books is the UK's leading supplier of direct consumer warranties, claims that Audis, BMWs and Volkswagens have some of the least reliable engines available. Indeed, among the cars owned by its policy holders, the only engines to have failed more than Audis were those from the now defunct MG Group. In total 1 in 13 of MG Rover motors failed in the past year, and problems presented themselves in 1 in every 27 Audi engines. Mini was the third least reliable with a failure rate of 1 in 40, while BMW finished seventh (1 in 45) and Volkswagen ninth (1 in 52).

Good find. Never ever owned a German made car before anyway, just British (Triumph Spitfire 1500) and mostly Japanese.

And those haters said rotary engine is bad ...

RXeligion 09-01-2013 10:04 PM

Wasn't Audi the company, other than Mazda, which was considering the rotary for range extension for hybrids?:rollingla

nycgps 09-01-2013 10:28 PM

Audi bought nsu, so they have the right to do it. But it wouldnt be that easy, gm tried and failed, curits wright tried, failed, rolls royce tried, failed. Etc

Merc comes in ar 3rd in most reliable top 10.

So you are clearly tarring all german cars with the same brush

j9fd3s 09-04-2013 11:10 AM

and most VW's are built in mexico, so you're tarring them in with the german cars

A number of European Fords are made in Mexico. Including the Fusion, Focus, and the Fiesta(jaja).
