Will the rx8 be a collectible

I really don’t know BUT I do know at the time it had so many reveloutional features it just may.
My gut feeling says it will.....but it will be a while before it happens.
I do know I wish I had kept my first car ...a 1957 Chevy convertible.
even though I ride now in a modified Porsche Macan S ( better performance suv than I first thought), it doesn’t have that
specialness that the RX8 had. I never turn around to look at it like I used to do with the 8.
Currently I am looking for one....I would love to let a custom shop do a number on one (like the TV shows) for a tasteful rendition. To do that and have approx 375–400 rwhp from either a v6 ( keeping the rx8 drivetrain) or a non side port rotary is really my dream car.
What are others thoughts?

I think there was another thread asking about this as well.

Maybe it will happen, especially if there is no future rotary(range extender doesn't count, obviously).

I personally don't care enough to find out. Just drive the car and enjoy it. If all you want to do is stare at it, well they might just end up in some museums in the future and you can stare at them there. Just know that they won't let you drive it there.

I'm not familiar with that particular RX7, but I imagine to fetch a price like that, it had to be a low mileage, pristine garage queen.
It will probably be the same with 8s.

I think those of us who keep and leave ours relatively unmolested and sensibly modded, while driving them regularly will see modest increases in value, but nothing approaching that.

But you never know.
Given the amount of part outs, swaps, and total wrecks I've been seeing on the forum, that could make the attrition rate so great that one day the sheer scarcity of decent unmolested 8s, the unique quirks of the car, and the fact that it is most likely the last to be Wankel powered may make them valued collectibles.

Could happen.
:dunno:

Yep, basically something you'd see in a museum.

I agree and or see the points in all that has been posted. I am recently reminded of the 1988 BMW 535 And how it has started to appreciate greatly and the craziness concerning the Honda S2’s.
The rx8 was and is a very special car .. but I degres... preaching to the choir here. Heck Mazda even developed a special method of working with aluminum ( mainly the hood) that was ahead of its time etc etc...just had to mention that lol
swoope old buddy .... still have my meatball sticker you made me when I was leaving body parts on the track!
i am back in ga now... wife has a job saving gorillas in Rwanda.
yes I have modified the macan lol ..Cobb tune etc... can’t help myself.

Wow, saving gorillas is awesome.
Dangerous though, hopefully she has a good security detail.
