Why street racing is bad

Losers. And both were probably grown adults.

Roidz 11-25-2011 10:20 PM

Morons. There goes 2 perfectly good Corvettes.

flametail 11-25-2011 10:21 PM

I laughed soooo hard at that...too bad the guy filming was smacking the hell out of his gum and annoyed the hell out of me by doing so.

SayNoToPistons 11-25-2011 10:40 PM

Funny. On Tuesday, some kid with a C6 Z06 was racing a new Stang GT down the busy main two way single lane road ON CAMPUS in POURING RAIN. 200ft after they blew by my friends and I, the Z06 went onto the on coming lane, passed a shuttle bus full of students, rear whipped out, did a 360, hit the other shuttle bus stop and into a tree, then did a 180 onto the grass into another tree. That is after jumping an 8 inch curb.

Lucky bastard didn't hurt himself (which I was not happy to see. Thankfully no one was walking on the curb or sitting at the bus stop at the time. Usually there are at least 15 students waiting for the shuttle where he crashed into. Campus security arrived, and I walked over and instigated about him racing a blue Mustang. Of course he denied it, especially since the Mustang left.

I was there just the other day... I would have loved to see this in person. I would definitely have tried to film more than just that.

wedged 11-25-2011 11:35 PM

wow, that gum smacking was a bit much, if your gonna record something, turn off the radio, and quit smacking the gum. otherwise that's pretty funny to actually catch on video, he must have known the two vettes or something.

monchie 11-25-2011 11:44 PM

Stupid jerks with their expensive corvettes and doing kids stuffs...funny.

nycgps 11-25-2011 11:59 PM

Rofl lollo?o?olloolololol hahahaahaha 2 fuxking morons !!!!!!

That moron probably turn the dsc off cuz he thinks he us the shit, vette has garbage design body and it flexes so much and w/o dsc that shit will lose control like that.

YaXMaN 11-26-2011 12:14 AM

Complete and utter driver fail in both judgement and skill. Apparently the C5 had something like 600whp. He never had traction in second gear, and he stayed in it on a left hand sweeper - of course it's going to snap like that. Dumb.

If the C6 had kept going instead of jumping on the brakes, he wouldn't have been hit.

You ever driven ANY car with 600rwhp? You haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about...

Body flex.

MS Addict 11-26-2011 12:21 AM

Yeah. That was quite stupid.

I don't really do any of that anymore. I mean, I've had rather spirited runs at the Dragon, but.. Other than that, I don't. And that was with people I trusted behind the wheel.

It is stupid. You'd think that seeing a little kid riding a bicycle would trigger a "hmm this might not be a good spot".

Don't be too concerned, though. I heard from a very credible source that the police were sent the video after the wreck. I'm sure these two will need plenty of good legal advice.

MS Addict 11-26-2011 12:35 AM

Yeah. Hell, even if I don't see anyone around, I don't go for it, because that's usually when a cop's got you in sight. Last two times I did anything "wreckless"(And I use the term very loosely), albeit completely alone, is when there was a cop nearby that I couldn't see.

That's good though. Maybe it'll at least teach him next time, when you lose it, use the brakes, not the gas.

Man, if you hit the brakes in a situation like that, you have ZERO chance of coming out of it.

Sorry no but is 543 hp close enough? ) not a vette tho. And guess what dsc was off and i had no problem "fooling" around with it

I shouldnt use flex, wrong term, if u look at the frame u should know what i mean.

But whatever car it was, no one should drive any car like that on public roads, vette or ferrari. Just because the car can go fast doesnt mean the person driving could.

This town is basically a rich area near Houston... There were a lot of kids at my high school with BMW's, mercedes's, Audi's, hummer's and the like. Plenty of powerful cars. I know there was at least 2 kids with vettes in my graduating class. One kid had a fully loaded hummer with rims and a high end sound system... he crashed it going 100+ around a curve and almost died because his sub almost hit him in the back of the head. He had a brand new one by the end of the week. There was also a girl who had an amg mercedes but wanted a 6 series BMW instead, so she got it less than a year later. Basically... there are a lot of parents and kids here with more money than sense. I would not be surprised if at least one of those cars was driven by a high schooler. Obviously, we have plenty of adults that have nice cars as well, but most of them actually act like adults. 90% of them fit the stereotype of the rich guy showing off his money anyway... they end up driving the cars like a camry.

RIWWP 11-26-2011 01:45 AM

I was thinking it looked familiar. The Woodlands area north of Houston?

Yeah dude, exactly. Because I'd rather have zero chances of pulling out of it, than swinging that car right back into other cars.

When you've lost control, it's best to just stop the car, than try to save what's already lost. I've tried to save a spin in my Rx8, and ended up doing an entire 360 off the opposite side of the track. Some scenarios you're just not going to save it with throttle, because it's too far gone.

And he, well, he was too far gone. Should've just kept on down that on-ramp, or whatever it was.

RIWWP 11-26-2011 01:47 AM

Not a ramp, that was a shopping center entrance. I'm sure "continuing" that direction would have gotten much worse much faster.

Assuming the Corvette can brake as good as I've seen, it looked like he had plenty of room to stop from say, roughly 70mph, I'll give him that.

In the very least, a better option to go, than staying on the throttle more, and turning the wheel back towards the other Corvette, and trees.

RIWWP 11-26-2011 01:53 AM

I'm sure he was just trying to catch it, and didn't. Probaby lifted as the rear was already coming around, making a bad situation even worse. Granted, it's natural reaction when you haven't trained yourself to not do that.

I may catch some flak for this, but I'm glad he lost it into the other vette. They are both guilty anyway, and it's better his fellow racer than the parked cars and potential pedestrians off to the right.

LifeAfterRx8 11-26-2011 01:56 AM

I wonder how they're going to file an insurance claim.

8 Maniac 11-26-2011 02:01 AM

Once he lost control, the brakes would have been a bad idea. I think he would have been best with just leaving the brakes and throttle alone, for the most part.

The C6 probably could have avoided the accident if he had not hit the brakes/stopped accelerating. He only needed a few feet to have cleared that accident. I'm not saying it was necessarily a good idea for him to continue driving like an idiot, especially after seeing the other car lose control, but it would have at least spared him the trouble. I guess it's good for learning a lesson though.

You can point to flaws about the car all you want... a skilled driver would have been able to handle the car properly. I think it's clear this was a situation of a driver that did not have the proper skill level to handle the car, especially in a situation like this.

g8ter 11-26-2011 03:36 AM

I find it funny alot of the videos of people acting stupid and crashing are vette owners, I know there's more but youtube has alot um!!!
