What you'd like to graduate to..
Well, Im assuming most people throughout their lives 'move up' the ladder when they buy cars. I had a 96 civic coupe before 'graduating' to the 8. I love my 8, but as a car lover, can't help but wonder what the next level on the hopefully ascending ladder is for me in say 8 years or so. If it was today, a couple cars on my target list (I'm using twice as much as the 8 as the cap, as thats the same leap I made from Civic to 8), that cap (twice as much as 8) is about 60K plus or minus a few g's to make it fun:
here's my list -new AMG SLK 55 (355 HP, 0-60 4.3 SECONDS, in this months new Car and Driver, lists for 65K) - Corvette C6, maybe a z06 if i can afford it -Chrysler 300M SRt-8. (this car is insane, 425 hp, 0-60 in 4.7, lists for 47K) -Mercedes CLS -Audi s4 -current BMW M3 whats on your list? |
lets see...
vette acura nsx (probably out of price range) cadi xlr-v (this one too) m3 r33/r34 |
C6 Z06, or if out of my price range, the next RX-7 (crossing fingers).
|
I am lookin for a mint 95 r2 silver. Other than that, I will buy the next rotary incarnation.
Eventually I wouldn't mind owning the new ls600h for my daily driver and use the rex as a weekend warrior. |
The Vette or the CTS...
|
maclaren f1
|
1) New 4th Gen RX-7 if this ever happens...
http://images.rotarynews.com/images/200308_rx7.jpg 2) Mercedes-Benz SL-Class http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/1...-class.160.jpg 3) New Porsche Panamera http://automobilemag.com/2007_sneak_...panamera_1.jpg |
For me its the 4th gen RX7 if it happens--or a Porsche 911. For me I'm headin for a 911 as soon as I can afford it.
|
BMW X5 4.8is
Lexus GS430 |
Next car will probably be a new Miata or the Sky...as far as "graduating" to more expensive cars:
C6 Vette F430 M3/M5 Lotus Elise/Exige |
is it me, or does the mockup for the 4th gen 7 look like a bastard love child between an 8 and a pontiac of some sort.
|
Aston Martin DB9........but my girlfriend would either get it first or steal the one i get...haha jokes on her i'm poor and will always be that way :D
seriously though Spirt R RX-7...btu most likly ar R2 (since i doubt i can get a 2002 rx-7 over here) or what the hell...... a R34 Skyline GTR V-spec II or lotus Elise (assuming i can fit in it) |
Already have my M3 picked out...
|
for the 60k range i would probably go with these:
1) new Shelby GT500 with some extra cash for gas and new tires every 1k miles 2) S4 3) used E39 M5 4) Boxster S 5) Elise with some cash to spare on new rubber and a driving school |
^get the turbo for the elise..it makes it stupid fast:D
|
I must say the new M45 is pretty sick.

Everyone ballclutches the Elise--I like it too--but I still need some practicality out of a vehicle.

I would say BMW M3, or more unrealistic, Porsche 911.
But a Mazdaspeed 8 with 280 or more horse would also do the trick. |

Upgraded 8 or new 7 or 3rd gen 7 really I hope to drive Rotaries for the rest of my life and I'm in my 20s I wouldn't be caught dead in a Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Porsche, or Corvette...but I wouldn't mind a Aston Martin as a second car :D |

I actually have the means to get a new 911 now, but I just don't want to spend that kind of money on a car again. A part of me lusts after a Speed Yellow 997 911, but I ask myself why? I'm very content with the RX-8, would a 911 really make me that much happier? Also, there are so many interesting cars that should pop up in the next 2-3 years at a much more affordable price: Porsche Cayman (aka Boxster Coupe), 4th Gen RX-7, MS RX-8, new NSX, new GT-R, new Supra, and 400hp M3 Sedan etc. And the Lotus Elise is still calling to me every now and then (or at least the sales guy keeps pestering me). As I've already graduated and have owned cars costing more than twice the price of the RX-8, I've found I can be just as happy with reasonably priced cars like the RX-8. The grass isn't always greener once you've been there. |
i just going to wait and see what is out when that time comes. until then, im going to enjoy my rx-8 :D
