What is up with all the parallelogram-across-two-planes taillights out there?
What is up with the recent bandwagon for parallelogram-shape-across-two-planes taillight designs (ie., the parallelogram shape is completed as the taillight bends around the rear plane and into the side plane of the car)? Talk about cliche and poor aesthetic design. There are too many cars to mention. The new Acura RL. Pontiac G6. Scion TC. The new SLK. A bunch of Korean cars. Etc.
I understand the new philosophy of extending taillights farther into the side-body plane but this particular slight-of-"eye" exercise has been really aesthetically annoying for me. I have noticed a general correlation between the presence of this type of taillight and shortened trunks that taper downward. The combination of these two elements is terribly ill-conceived and uncreative. Anyone else agree? Can anyone post pics of cars with taillights like this? |
