What type OIL is used in 2004 RX8?

Hi all. I only recently purchased my 2004 RX8 and still have the dealer doing oil changes. What type of oil typically goes in the RX8? Thanks in advance!

ZoomZoomH 12-02-2005 12:22 AM

huh?

tiggerlee 12-02-2005 12:27 AM

wha??

NgoRX8 12-02-2005 12:29 AM

if the dealer is still doing oil changes, why don't you just let them continue doing it?

I want to know in case...

I want to know in case after I check it and it may is low...I can put the correct type in!!! I hope you all understand that.

It is under factory/purchased warranty that includes oil changes, jeeze!

HJSimpson35 12-02-2005 12:38 AM

Thanks guys...never mind. I'll find out myself. Sorry I asked such a simple question, but got all these huh's and wha's! :>)

tiggerlee 12-02-2005 12:39 AM

All that info's in the Owners Manual!

tiggerlee 12-02-2005 12:41 AM

As far as having to "top it off" just ask them what brand they use and use the same. Problem solved. :)

Besides there's a shit load of info here on what oil to use and what not to. Just do a search

What a novel idea. doing the work before you start a new thread? holy cow!!! :Eyecrazy:

that's what your manual is for. it specifically says what type of oil to use. :nono:

davesaunders300 12-02-2005 06:37 AM

Correct oil

What a bunch of jerks!

You're right, you will need to top it up between oil changes and you should use 5w-20.

Thank you davesaunders300 you are the only nice person here. I appreciate it!

Cheers. IvE just bought my '8 second hand, and it didn't have the owners manual so the advice here is great. However, the US owners manual indicates no synthetic, and that's all I can find at the local garages 8(. Damnit, I knew the rx8 used a little oil, but I didn't know I'd have to go to Saudi Arabia to get it myself:naughty:

There are may threads based on synthetic vs dyno and weights. I personally used 5-30 synthetic before i went turbo and still continue to use synthetic just heavier weight. Mazda will not cover your warrenty if they know you have used it and due to the fact they did not do testing.
