Weekend Warrior...... What to choose??

I'm looking to purchase myself a weekend warrior because I have decided to not go FI on my 8 for the moment.

I live on the coast and have direct access to JDM cars. So here are my choices, all input is welcomed:

Fairlady Z
FD RX7
Supra TT (not until 2008)
180SX (SR20)
R32 Skyline
R33 Skylin (not until 2008)
3000 GT
Lancer GSR Evo
Subaru WRX
Soarer TT

Prices range from 8k-16k, supra and R33 will likely be around 20k.

These cars range in year from 1990-1992, 1993's will be avail sometime in 2008.

Not in a rush at this point. Im kind of leaning towards the FD because I own an 8, but there are a lot of cool cars to choose from.

Here is what they either have in transit or have in stock:

You seem to have ignored questions from the other thread... So I'll post it up again here.

If you can get an Evo V or VI that is the way to go, but that doesn't fit into your years. Why would you go through the trouble of getting a JDM FD, Z, GTO, or Supra though? Sure there may be a few extra trims and some small differences but the trouble simply wouldn't be worth it. Of the years you're looking at I'd get a Pulsar GTi-R. That is with the assumption that you're not going to be able to swing a R32 GTR.

Suzuki Cappuccino w/ V-8 conversion. :ylsuper:

More realistically though, R32.

I'd never heard of this car. It's a badass little ride.

why not get USDM miata, strip it down, lower it, add roll cage and some slicks, and up the power

Tolchock 10-21-2007 02:13 PM

Probably the R32 Skyline

echoinsilence 10-22-2007 12:34 PM

I'd go with the skyline, if not I'd go with the FD. The subaru's are fast too though and the horizontally opposed motors sound badass too.

Feras 10-22-2007 12:56 PM

soarer...you'd be the only guy with it

tajabaho1 10-22-2007 01:09 PM

damn, why don't u get a 69 Shelby or camerro or a Cuda?

oh wait, JDM.......skyline

a classic 911. A late 80s Carrera or a '90s 964 if you can swing it go for a 993.

Throwdown 10-22-2007 02:36 PM

Oh man get one of those sweet Mitsubishi vans.

rotary crazy 10-22-2007 02:49 PM

if the FD is a jdm and cost less than 20,000, it is better to get a US spec car, the only FD that had significan changes are the 1999 +, and I can guaranty that they dont go for less than $18,000 us

rotary crazy 10-22-2007 02:54 PM

they buy the cars from the same auction that I do :)

Razz1 10-22-2007 07:25 PM

3000 Gt Vr4

+1

Just cuz I love this gen of MR-2. Its rare to see one of these in great shape, let alone modified.
But, i would be hard pressed to choose this over the R32 GTR...considering i had the $ that is. If i wanted to stay under 10 grand, the MR-2 would be my choice. Between 6-7k will get you one in dam good condition, then 3-4k to mod it into a little demon.

it all depends what your goal is, if you are going for a track car, get the FD or the mr2, if you want huge HP #'s get the supra or the GTR ( this can be good track cars just be careful with the hp), if you want to drifht get a silvia a s14 would be cool but if you can get a S15 it would be better ( be carefull with the s14 silvias there is a faclift that looks much better than the standar one) also the skyline r33 GT- turbo are dirt cheap come with a rb25 turbo engine thats very tunable and RWD

hope this helps

One really important thing to keep in mind is that JDM car does not use pink slip or any type of registration, so the only way to check the year of the car is to check via internet or to have the documentation from the auction( but this can be manipulated)

another way is to lear the little changes that the car had over its life, and check the car well before you buy

echoinsilence 10-24-2007 03:28 PM

Subaru Justy, if you haven't heard of it look it up, drop an STI motor in it and you'll smoke everything....well all except the RX-8 of coarse, lol.

kennychopra17 10-30-2007 09:02 AM

My vote would be for a 99 Spec FD3S

dynamho 10-30-2007 11:17 AM

Late 80's Mazda 323 GTX is not a bad car. Turbo AWD. I nifty handler with decent potential.
