I don't know if it will get the 2.5T as the article mentioned. I would think they have a smaller turbocharged engine, like maybe a 1.5T(they have an NA 1.5 engine for Mazda 2, 3 and MX-5) could make it more competitive. IMO that's just how you gotta play the game nowadays with downsized turbocharged engines, especially in regions where displacement tax is a thing.

And the article mentioned that manual trans will be killed off in the 3, so MX-5 will be the only Mazda car with manual trans left, then. Kinda sucks but that's the big trend...

They already said it will be the 2.5T possibly a revision but expect the same 2.5T 250hp/315tq or what ever it has, it will also be on the premium side with auto transmission only and AWD. I heard possibly more power but that's conjecture. expect it to be well over 26.5k price tag which is well over the current price of the premium package it will be available in both sedan and 5-door models.

They made the new 3's with enough room for a turbo with the 2.5L, I have a 2018 and the space between the firewall and the engine is enough, even the shield is setup for one. I think they've been planning this for a while.
