As it is a Pro-Tuner FI RX-8 (like from Pettit, AxialFlow/RP, Mazsport, etc...) will allow FI RX-8s to have the short distance advantage over MS 3. There are looks and handling. I'm sorry for MS 3 owners, but the RX-8 just plain looks better. If all things are equal, most would go for the RX-8, just on looks alone.

Extra! Extra! A more expensive car from the same car company that's designed to look sportier due to its coupe body style looks better!

Thanks Captain Obvious, but I don't think the story here is that the RX-8 looks better than a MS3.

i test drove a ms3 and loved it, decided to buy one. black gt =). rides great handles good looks good with a drop and gold rims. for the fiancee though... i would rather be seen in my white MS kit all around rx8.... BTW my tuned nitrous 8 spanked the $%$@#@ out of the ms3. =P

Not true. Speed and exterior have nothing to do with each other. For example, I think the G35 Coupe is a decent looking car and 98% of the time it will out perform mine in a straight line. On the other hand, many of us believe your last 2 cars (STI and Evo) are ugly and very fast. It's just a coincidence. I don't think the Mazdaspeed 3 looks too good either if it makes you feel better.

ms3 bad ass car, and on a 2nd gear roll ms3 will walk a evo or a sti stock vs stock its been tested, we test those cars 2 several time and got the same result at our dealership, i work for maz + mits....
i think both the evo and sti are ugly cars, evos look to ricey, and i hate that grill on the sti those 2 cars looks like something my nephew should be driving...the ms verions(ms6+ms3) look clean, i like mazdas styling it has a grown man approach to it....

btw beautiful ride carlos

Woah now. If what you say is true, and the Speed 3 will walk an Evo or Sti from second gear roll, then that means it will absolutely trounce my Speed 6 from a second gear roll like it's standing still. You obviously tested WRONG, because that is flat out BS. I know the Speed 3 is pretty fast, but it cannot do what you say it can stock vs stock. The Speed 3 's ECU limits the boost to 10 PSI in first and second gear to reduce the massive torque steer and wheel spin, so it doesn't even use all it's power until third gear. It's in third gear to high Speeds where the Speed 3 can give EVOs and STis a run for their money, but with equal drivers will still fall short.

Take it from a guy who's owned an STI, and traded it in for a Speed 6. I considerably downgraded performance in every category, but prefered a classier looking, tamer more friendly daily. I realize the Speed 6 is heavier then the Speed 3, but even removing 400lbs, it's not as fast as an EVO or STI in any form of racing., unless perhaps you are talking from a 100mph starting roll, then maybe it is.

No need to hate on the EVO or STI. They are far superior cars, which is also why they are far more expensive. Looks are subjective, and yes, the car is more youthful, however, that's why they made the STI Limited. That car is absoultely GORGEOUS. It's just too damn expensive. :)

i dunno, anyone got some experience out on road course track of rx8 vs ms3? i know the ms3 has more tourqe, but what about overall as a sports car? handling is pretty important to a sports car too. more important that straight line speed, to me anyway. still, nice car bro, congrats on the new car. hope u enjoy it.

ms3 is faster than a ms6 you ask any mazda tech that has driven both cars even sales men know that, and evos and stis arnt that fast off a roll, take it from a guy that acually tested it..evos are fast but not as fast as people really say they are. sorry i dont go by what every mag say i actually like to test and see the results.and call me what you want hater or non hater it dont matter thats my thoughts about a evo or sti.....i just wanted to state what i knoe and what i tested, but i can care less bout these cars, i own a rx8 and i sure love her

The Evo IX will trap 106-107mph in the 1/4 mile, the Mazdaspeed 3 usually traps a little under 100. I don't know what your "testing" conditions were but an Evo is going to be faster than a MS3 is just about every situation.

I never said the Speed 6 was faster. The Speed 3 is faster after 60mph then the Speed 6 because it's 400lbs lighter. They have identical tuning after second gear. As I said before, the Speed 3 ECU tuning cuts boost to 10psi in first two gears to reduce torque steer, and the Speed 6 has full boost, so combine that with the AWD advantage and extra boost in gears one and two, they are pretty close in 0 to 60. It's after 60 MPH that the Speed3 will pass the Speed 6, because it's significantly lighter.

Happy Holidays. :)

Here's a video of a stock MS3 doing 100 + traps consistently.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=xumk_VbvcNM

Here's some videos of an ms3 running an EVO 8 from 60 mph.

http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...&current=1.flv
http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...&current=2.flv
http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...&current=3.flv

With different drivers the results might've been different but the evo 8, like the STI, aren't highway monsters. From a launch is a different story though for obvious reasons.

Thanks for proving my point. Notice how bad a driver the guy in the Evo is yet he still manages to catch up to the MS3 as they near the traps. As far as those videos go, I can't tell what the hell is going on and we know nothing about either of those cars.

The first video disproves your first statement that the ms3 traps under a 100mph. Whether you choose to believe it's stock or not is your problem.

I don't think anybody will argue that from a launch an EVO will be faster.

The other videos proves that the EVO 8 isn't very fast from a roll as a ms3 keeps up with it quite nicely. Notice it's an 8 not an IX so in that situation the results might be a little different. Again believe what you will. I know these guys since they're members of a mazda 3 forum and according to them the ms3 is stock and EVO has a CAI.

I say they USUALLY trap a little under 100mph and you posting a video of some guy in Australia trapping 100.XX proves me wrong? I think it's safe to say that the times and trap from that guy are a little better than average.

So some dude recording a short race with his cameraphone proves the Evo isn't very fast from a roll? For one, maybe a MS3 could hang with an 03-04 Evo if the Evo wasn't in its sweet spot and some dumbass put a CAI in it (without a tune they often make the car lose HP). A newer Evo can trap 107 mph, I guess that's not fast. :cwm27: Your MS3 a pretty fast car, but Evo killer it is not. Looks like the MS3 is the new SRT-4, a bunch of guys with a cheap and quick FWD car that think they have something to prove to the bigboys.

Now skedaddle on back to the MS3 forums and post a link to this thread full of people that just don't get what an awesome car your torque steering beast is.

Merry Christmas!

Hardly any ms3s have been to track so how'd you know what is average? That was his first time and yes it proves you have no idea what you're talking about.

Excuses, excuses. You sound like a ricer after he got his ass handed to him.
Bigboys?LOL, an EVO or STI, while impressive cars are not in the league with the Bigboys. A stock zo6 will wipe the floor with both those cars anywhere, anytime.

And I'll repeat for your tiny brains to absorb: no one has said an MS3 is faster than an EVO. The videos were merely shown to demonstrate that the EVO like an STI is all about the launch. After that they loose some steam and their AWD avantage over a fwd pocket rocket.

Actually, it takes a pretty good driver to trap over 100mph on a bone stock Speed 3, and Ike did say USUALLY, so he was not disproved. That guy is obviously a pretty good driver, so this is not exactly USUAL. You're gonna find plenty of MS3 owners falling short of that 100mph trap that's for sure.

To play fair, if you are gonna say the EVO 8 isn't very fast from a roll, then at least acknowledge that the Speed 3 isn't either in bone stock form. I assume you are reverting to the price you pay for the car new, and relating that to what you think it should do on the highway. The EVO is not geared or tuned that way, nor should one buy one with that intent and prefference. If an owner wanted it to be a highway monster, it can be done with relative ease.

Either way, the Speed 3 is more along the lines of a nicer Srt-4, which makes for a great, affordable, go fast car, with the refinement that the SRT lacks. I think very highly of it for it's price, but if I owned one, I'd stay clear of any modified STI or EVO, regardless of the type of race. Still a ways to go before the aftermarket can compete. No doubt it can keep up with an EVO or STI on the highway, but then again, that's taking away the strength of one vehicle, and pertaining it to the strength of another. If you wanna play totally fair, run them both off the line up to top speed, and see who wins. :)

Actually MikeH8tesEVOandSTI, I mean MikeLuvs8 ;) said that from a second gear roll the MS3 will walk an EVO. That's how this little debate got started. That's certainly not true, and I'm sure you can at least agree on that. :) There's no need to start name calling here since it is afterall Christmas. Happy Holidays guys. :)
