Track / Spirited driving shoes

After searching for a thread about good track shoes with no luck, I decided it would be a good thing to start one. Mods, feel free to move this thread to another topic location if you think it is more suitable there.

I have seen some cool Piloti Prototipo I was thinking of getting, while there are some other great looking shoes available. I'd like something with extra heel support, what do you recommend?

I own a pair of Piloti Ingels, in the race performance category. I'd wear them 24/7 if they didn't look so goofy. So far they are the best shoe i have owned though. The fitment is perfect, there is nothing i dislike about the Piloti's.

Plain brown loafers. If they're good enough for Aryton Senna, they're good enough for me.

Besides, you'd look like a complete twat wearing those things in public.

i've found the pedals arent close enough to do heal-toe with narrow shoes on the 8.

ive got a pair of 'puma future cat'
http://www.myairshoes.com/wp-content...future-cat.jpg

mine are white. they have the same rolled heel design as above. puma make f1 racing boots hence why i choose them lol
but like the post above me, i find that i cant do heel-toe shifting and id like to think its not my own inability !

I have a couple pairs of the piloti's, Got them at Ross for like 19.99......awesome price since they retail for $90ish, got a pair of the leather type too, awesome shoes. the Leathers are comfortable and classy looking enough that I wear them when I go out and have gotten compliments on them.......oh and they are great for driving too LOL:p:

I hope you guys didnt pay retail for them!:evil_laug

I have a pair of Piloti Prototipos and Puma Future Cats (same ones pictured above, actually) - the Pilotis are BY FAR my favorite. They look normal and are comfortable enough for daily wear, plus they're wide enough to heel-toe in both my old RX8 and my new Mazdaspeed 3. The Pumas fit like socks, look a bit like elf shoes, they're a little uncomfortable for walking around, and you have to drive kind of funny to be able to heel-toe properly. They do have REALLY good pedal feel though (since the sole is probably 1/8" thick) - I think if I ever drove a car with a very narrow pedal arrangement, I would prefer the feel of the Pumas. For the RX8, no question - go with the Pilotis.

how much is the Piloti Prototipo normally cost?

Winning 8 06-16-2009 02:35 PM

I buy the best PPE, momo racing shoes, gloves, got to wear something fire rated for track.

$85-90, more if they're leather instead of suede.

Thanks, 80~90is pretty good price
My friend bought a Puma one, a red one, he said he paid $300 sth =__=

I can heel and toe with the future cats without any problem...
I like them but Sparco and Piloti have a good lineup too. The Pilotis have the advantage to be sufficiently "normal" looking to be used under a pair of trousers to hang around :)

I have a pair of the Piloti Prototipo (green), very comfortable. Thick sole instead of a paper thin one so they are still great for street shoes. The rounded heel works too. got mine for 90ish

I should have mentioned that I wear a 9.5 and lace them up like footballs. Larger/wider sizes would likely make hitting both pedals a lot easier.

I have a pair of PUMA Speed Cats. I love them, its like driving in socks with slightly thicker soles. My wife hates how they look though.
