Top Gear cancelled in the USA?

So, it looks like Top Gear has been cancelled. It's not on the Discovery Channel for the next 14 days. Help. I'm going through withdrawals already.

 Did you hear this somewhere? Or are you just assuming since it's not playing for the next two weeks? Maybe they're just making room for other shows/getting ready to air the next season or something?

I checked out the discovery channel web site and there's not much info about it. When I did a search under listings for "Top Gear" October 6th was the only thing that came up. Maybe it's just that the season's over and there's a new one coming down the road sometime...

Here is what I know about the Top Gear that is on Discover CH.

The show in england is filmed at 2 times, 1 all the car reviews/races/travel ect is shot all in one long block over the summer and winter. The parts bettween the clips they show is done live at the studio with an audience.

For the US, The are using the clips from the older shows (they seem to be 1 year behind) and they filmed NEW segments with the audience for the US market.

Over in England their TV seasons go in 2 blocks, you have (usualy) 10 episodes durring fall and then 10 episodes durring spring.

Durring the Off time they go out do the shooting for all the segments. The obviously cant film the US live segments at the same time as the UK live segments, so right now (fall) Top Gear is starting its 2nd half of the 05 season, so this might cause a delay in filming and then editing together the episodes for the US market.

www.finalgear.com

Thats a GREAT site, run by a buddy of mine. They used to post up all the Top Gear and Fifth Gear episodes about a day after they would air in the UK. The had to take down the Top Gear downloads cause the BBC wanted them to stop, this is because the majority of the downloads went to the US, since the show wasnt on here, but the BBC made a deal with Discovery to remake the episodes for the US.....so of course the free downloads of new episodes couldnt be allowed cause they wanted to force feed us the stuff from last year, in a new package.

The Fifth Gear downloads are still up, cause the stuff that Speed TV carries is almost 2 years old, and its just straight replays of what was on in the UK.

The site is still usefull for info on the current episodes, when the seasone is running.

Fifth Gear and Top Gear start there new season soon (if they havent already, havent been on the site in a week or so) and Fifth Gear will now be in a 1 hr format (vs the old 30 min)

I dont think it was cancelled so soon, cause the deal discover has with bbc was $$$.

Hopefully this helps out.

I personaly cant stand the American version of the show, the cut a lot of stuff out (that we wouldnt understand, such as some of the things the talk about, and the starts the interview) and also the have to edit it differntly and make room for the extra comercials we show.

My advice, read when the episodes come out on www.finalgear.com and then download the fifth gear from them, and the top gear from supernova.

Yeah, well not personaly, but we have become pretty good friends over the internet from sharing a common intrest in cars.

I just checked out the site today, and noticed he removed all the torrents from the site, so now he is just linking and that should make it easyer for people that dont have much experience with finding torrents.

I am addicted to these shows (Top Gear & Fifth Gear) Ill have to get the new FG when I get home.
