Re: Re: Synthetic in a Rotary (Penzoil commercial)
Originally posted by Gord96BRG Like vudoodoodoo said - you CAN use synthetic in the Renesis. It's been discussed often enough around here! Yeah, dealers told people you couldn't, there was a tips pamphlet suggesting you shouldn't, but the oil specs in the manual do not forbid it and recent e-mails from Mazda about this issue now say that synthetic oil is fine. Let this myth die!!! Regards, Gordon Or else Mazda would have stated that you must use special "Rotary Blend Oil", as opposed to a blanket about synth in this engine. A lot more information is found here ;) |
Just got an oil change today at the dealer....They used the Mobil 1 that I provided no problems.

cool commercial
Is that commercial new, or from back in the day when the FD came out?
Well, if that commercial was made when the FD was new, IIRC Mazda's official stance at that time was no synthetic in the rotary, so it would have been ironic. I think that's what the original poster meant, everyone knows synthetic is okay these days...
The FD doesn't have a Renesis either...
