Sunoco Ultra 94 gas.
Apparently I found a Sunoco near campus that sells gas for quite cheap and couldn't help but notice that they also offer their Ultra 94 Octane line of gas too. I am not looking for OMG HAI OCTANE HP LVL+, but just curious on how it runs on our cars. Has anyone tried it?

I'm sure it would run fine, but using higher than necessary/spec'd octane fuel for street driving is just a waste of money.

I've always used Sunoco or Shell but I'm sure there really isn't a difference between 91-94.
But, I tend to get better gas mileage with Shell V-Power than Sunoco ULTRA. |
QuikTrip has the best gas. Some guys here went around with an ethanol tester to see the different qualities of gas and QuikTrip always had the lowest ethanol percentages at 7-8%. Some other places had as much as 15% ethanol in their gas even though they're only supposed to have 10%. Less ethanol means more power and better gas mileage.
Anything over 91 octane is a waste for street driving, and even then going to race gas for track events is pretty useless unless you're boosted. |
Not asking about the performance benefits (or lack of) from running Ultra 94, or other gases. Just asking how it runs on the RX-8.
I know a bunch of RX-7 guys that swear by Ultra 94, but they were all tuned on it. |
like the others said, anything over the recommended (read :TUNE) fuel means waste of money.
this is why I fuel up with 91 most of the time, some gas station offer this, like Gulf, Some Sunoco, Getty, never seen it at Mobil/Shell/BP sometimes I just go 89, cuz there is no reason to go high octane during winter months. |
I use it all the time.
I'm FI sooo maybe it's just more piece of mind ... but unscientifically I believe the car runs better. just say'n |
