It's a wagon and it may be ugly, but it's also over $4 grand cheaper than the RX-8 and is available with cheap financing. It is a deal whereas the 8 won't have discounts until an year or two. Plus it has all wheel drive for weather, good luggage capacity and aftermarket support.

I disagree. I owned a WRX wagon before getting my RX8 and the driving experience is quite different. Frankly, neither is the best choice if you’re *only* interested in performance, but both offer unique combinations of practicality, comfort, value, and fun-factor. The WRX wagon has more mid-range acceleration, is easily mod-able, has AWD, can carry more stuff, and is between $250 and $2500 cheaper (depending on transmission type). The RX8 offers sports-car toss-ability and road feel, short-throw-shifting, instant throttle response, tighter steering, and better brakes. Both get mediocre fuel economy.

Both vehicles can be had for near invoice. The difference is a lot less than $4k (prices below don't count destination):

Manual Transmission:
RX8 $24659

Auto Transmission:
