Stupid Question Alert...

... (Asbestos Suit On) :o

Can someone please educate me about double-clutching and the benefits? I just don't get it...

I did the "SEARCH" and nothing with any real clarity came up.

Thanks and flame-on...

Not really that big a deal on a modern 6-speed.

Why would anyone want to do this? It seems to add a step...

"You mean to tell me you were granny shifting when you should have been double clutching?"

Because if you are going around a corner really fast and let your clutch out too late (ie. into the turn), you could spin out because the downshift can unsettle the car. This would only really happen at track-like speeds.

I plan on practicing this myself. In limited time trying it out, it's pretty stinkin hard.

step 2, you don't need...leave it in while you "blip".

Yes, it's very important to drag the clutch on the track! It's the only way to kick ass.

if you leave in the clutch and just "blip" the throttle, you're only rev matching and not double clutching
