The solution for the RX-8's fuel guzzling...
...is to get one of these as the commuter car - when (if) it becomes available :)
Then you can use the RX-8 for pure fun and not worry about the consumption :D: The GT version is supposedly capable of 140 mpg  - and still does 0-60 under 9 seconds, top speed is 137.5 mph. All this for about 18 grand. Interesting. |
and if its ever released, it'll be interesting to see how much it really costs.

You can bet that by the time that all the U.S. safety requirements are met, it will weight alot more and loose half it's milage.

But wouldn't you rather get one of these?
"In 1800, Alessandro Volta arranged zinc and copper discs in a column and invented the battery. 204 years later, Toyota has electrified automotive history with the first high-performance hybrid, named in his honor. The Giugiaro-designed carbon-fiber body seats three people abreast and features "drive-by-wire" controls, allowing you to position the steering wheel and pedals in front of any one of them. And the Volta's 408-hp Hybrid Synergy DriveŽ (a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for each axle) not only delivers 435 miles on a 13.7-gallon tank, but 0-60 acceleration in a mere four seconds. Somewhere, Count Volta is smiling." http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/volta.html |
That toyota looks sharp, and with that kinda mileage i couldnt complain

Perfect for a menage-a-trois! But didn't Acura have a concept a couple of years back with even better hp and mpg?
