Sold the RX8
 

So I parted with my Rx8 last month, was sad to see it go but wanted something a little more practical for where I live. First I would like to start with stating that I can not believe how cheap Rx8's have become, and how STI's and EVO's are so outrageously priced. I went shopping around for EVO's and STI's 06+ and most were beat on badly, high milage, multiple accidents with crappy repair and people were still asking so much. Also with the build quality in my opinion far below that of the Rx8's. Interiors on both the EVO's and STI's feel cheap and plasticy, just not up to par with the Rx8. So basically I am trying to say I believe our cars value should be higher they are such great cars in how they are built and how they perform. I say all this and I got rid of mine. Well I found an STI that I liked and was in the best condition and picked it up. I have to say the turbo/AWD is fun, but I have been staying out of boost most of the time. I did a gates timing belt and water pump as soon as I got it along with an oil change. Its a 2007 93,000 mi has rota wheels, was quite bummed it did not come with the BBS but oh well. So here it is all stock except for the wheels and SPT catback. Sorry for the crappy pic.

Yeah, I'm afraid 8's won't be very desirable as long as people think "that weird engine — why does it have that??" Plus, with the car no longer in production, there's probably a fear of lack of mechanics who know how to work on it. And, of course, it was never real popular when it was in production.

But I watch a lot of Velocity Channel, Mecum auctions, etc. and I wouldn't be at all surprised if 8's in good condition ultimately become desireable. After all, a) they're great cars and b) they'll be rare.

Evo's are notoriously hard to find a clean VIII-IX for a decent price because they are highly sought after, almost all modded (with varying levels of skill), and driven very hard. A clean IX can cost as much as a new Evo X because X's are so much fatter and slower that the older platform is more valuable.

Yeah, Evo VIII-IX interiors are hilariously bad. I gutted mine to bare metal almost immediately and didn't feel like I was missing much.

Thanks blackenedwings... Have no worries but I get away once a week or so to do a little spirited driving. Also just figuring the best MPG's I can get in town. Yeah not concerned with any problems, just like the feeling of having power knowing its there when I need it.
