A local Audi guy I met has one... it was a pretty awesome set up. I live in an apartment, so I'd appreciate having my own garage to work with.

I wouldn't trust that particular kind of lift, it doesn't look solid...
Lifts are generally bolted to the ground for extra safety.

I may be reading incorrectly, but it sounds like that one has a permanent anchor of some sort. I'd still say it would be a lot better to just go with a completely permanent installation... you are kind of trusting your life to it.

Oh I skipped that part but still... This is the kind of lift i'd trust my life to:

I have a friend with a 4 post lift in his garage. He parks his RX8 on top and drives his Miata underneath.
I've seen several dealer service centers that use the 2 post type listed in first post.

As this is not RX8 specific, I'm moving it to the General Automotive forum.

my bad al

That 2 post setup depends on the security of the anchor bolt into your concrete floor. YMMV: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/s...d.php?p=799851

i wish i did but my brother owns a repair shop with multiple bays and three lifts about five miles from home. i can use it pretty much whenever i want but its a pita getting my 8 on a lift

Several guys on the Vette forums using that lift. Nothing but glowing reviews.

I was supposed to get a lift in the third stall of my new house. Wife got central vacuum..I get lift. Somehow the lift never materialized. My wife now argues "what for? I thought you were done with big car projects.." :eyetwitch

If i just have a big ass garage... :yesnod:

I do have this exact lift in my garage. I love it. The lift is built solid, and is held down by anchors with a strength rating way above requirements for the maximum load on the lift. It is true though that the strength of the anchor depends on the quality of concrete. They've assumed 3000 psi - which is pretty low so in typical installations the concrete will be better than required.

What still scares me is the lack of a solid link between the posts. The posts look fairly small too and hydraulic cylinders vs big ass continuous screws are a nay as well.
Don't get me wrong, it's a cool concept but i'd rather trust my life to something else.
Most lifts here have tri-phase, 380v motors and way bigger locks so maybe i'm just spoiled.
