Just reading this article on the new Mazda 5 debut at LA

and it included this fantastic bit of news

In addition to the new 5, Mazda will be bringing its Shinari concept
the Press RElease mentions "a selection of unique customized models and racing cars" , which must be the bunch from SEMA

Dear Mazda,

When you built the Kabura, I told you to build it, and change nothing, and I would buy it. And I'd tell all my friends to buy it. Instead you gave us a hideous new 3. I nor any of my friends bought one.

When you built the Furai, I told you I'd refinance my goddamn house to buy one. You ignored me, and gave us the R3. Didn't get one of those either.

Now you've built the Shinari. I WILL GIVE YOU MY FUCKING FIRST BORN. JUST BUILT IT. DON'T MAKE YOUR SAME CARS UGLIER BY NAILING BITS OF IT TO THEM. Christ.

Come on. Listen to my product advice and your biggest problem will be finding enough places to stack your money.

Smooches,
Rootski

Hey Zoom! It's going okay. Being an LT is not all it's cracked up to be. How're things with you?

Although (As I keep emphasizing) Shinari represents a design direction, I would so love to see something with very strong Shinari influence go up against Lexus IS weighing no more than 2800 lbs and powered by a 1.6 rotary. 2014 RX8? :)

Paul.

Speed Source is there as well. Check out the paint blend of the 69 & 70.

@Mazmart: These discussions always become wish lists about horsepower and names and years and gas mileage. I'm saying, looking like that, power it with a lawnmower engine and call it the Mazda Herpes Simplex and I'd probably still at least take a test-drive.

@Zoom: Good luck with those in-laws, man. PM a link to your biz and I'll check it out.

I know they are still working on the 16x, but wouldn't you think they would at least have a concept car that it will be going into by now? While they work towards their performance targets and get the kinks out of the engine, I would think the size/dimensions are basically set so they should be able to design a car that it will fit into properly. I find it hard to believe they don't have something cooking behind closed doors and almost ready to go.

I see your perspective but I'm a rotor head so for me the engine is a priority. Bring me a car with Acura's new HIDEOUS styling powered by a new refined rotary and I'll buy it :D:.

Looks like those of the Shinari would ensure that I would not be one of few buyers. Great fuel efficiency with reliability (That includes 0 flooding) and longevity would ensure enduring sales.

I'm absolutely just dreaming. My dreams are just a little more realistic than some.

Paul :)
