Scion TC mod uses RX-8 throttle body

Looking over items on eBay I found that Scion TC owners can use the RX-8 throttle body with a custom adapter.

Anyone that doesn't need their throttle body on their 8 can post it up on the TC forum for sale.

It's HUGE.

Didn't the dual throttle bodies on the X-Men car look the same as what we currently have?

http://images.rotarynews.com/images/...3/mvc01213.jpg

Maybe that is why the 8 sounded more like a V8 in the movie :dunno:

Keef 01-04-2007 10:12 PM

dual throttle bodies? Were their any gains from that?!

BoosTED 01-04-2007 11:32 PM

:dunno: It came out before the 8 was released.

More than likely it was replaced by the secondary air port.

rotarygod 01-05-2007 12:15 AM

That was an earlier intake manifold design. Mazda used the main throttlebody to supply air to the primary and secondary ports and the smaller throttlebody supplied air only to the auxiliary ports. This required much more complex ecu control though. The current setup should have no losses in relation to that setup and is much simpler to make work.

BoosTED 01-05-2007 12:55 AM

Thanks for the input rotarygod.

That makes sense.

I have also read that increasing the throttlebody size by 50% can effectively increase the amount of volume by double.

Simple is good that is for certain.

Less parts = < parts to break or troubleshoot.

The kit looks like poop - does anyone else think the hole looks like it was gnawed out by beavers :Eyecrazy: ?

....or even worse, by me with a Dremel :Eyecrazy: :Freak_ani :Eyecrazy:

That is SUPPOSED to look like that?

rotarygod 01-05-2007 04:26 PM

That spins the air and gives you mad tight power yo! You didn't know that?

Hey whats up all. My Name is Ryan from Stripper Motorsports in Michigan. I am actually doing some testing on the soon. Just trying to get a hold to the Throttle Body. The guy who designed this said the the HP gains were minimal but the throttle response was a huge difference. So we have taken it on to actualy test it out to see what it can truely do! Let me know if anyone has one we can use or buy for the right price!

thanks
Ryan

I've already got about 8 of these out in the field and all with the same great results.

I dont think any of you have to worry, nor do i think anyone would be able to sell their 8 throttle body to a scion tc owner unless they were a newb haha....Throttle body upgrades are quite pointless for the TC and infact spacers, etc like that do worse for the car then better...
