It says Porsche but tastes like 8!
Has any one seen this Porsche? Sure does have that RX-8 flavor!

i would say, who would want a 4 door porsche, but then again, a few years ago, i said the same thing about their suv, now i at least 1 a week. :(
|
Would look better without the rear doorhandle.
|
there was an article posted here awhile back that said some porshe execs had been heard to say that they felt the rx8 was the type of vehicle porshe should have built instead of the suv. i guess this is the result of that talk.

That's a photoshop and based off the CGT front end. The idea has been floating around since before the 8 was introduced. In fact, I recently met a gentleman who was involved in a consumer study (in 2001 I think) with porsche in which they showed him pictures of a car that looked very similar to this one.

hmm..i don't like their suv in the least..i dont' really care for this car either..but it's a hella lot better than the suv. :D

I'm not sure about that. http://www.dancewithshadows.com/auto...e-panamera.jpg From this angle it doesn't look like an RX-8 at all, but the idea for the car is the same. http://www.thecarconnection.com/imag...9352_image.jpg http://www.motorbox.com/static/upl/p...6511-010-f.jpg http://www.autotitre.com/forum/up/df6f1d25d2.jpg |
Well the red one has a different front end doesn't it, the silver looks exactly like a CGT. ;)
Anyways, I am sure of it. I'm also a little confused about what "idea" is the same as the 8? A sporty sedan? |
the first pic by stjan has suicide rear doors;)

it looks ridiculously long in the side profile pic
|
Autoweek carried one of the pictures that's shown above (the silver one with four front-hinged doors) and said it was a project in the works - something to harken back to the 928 from the 1970s.
|
I'd still rather have a 911 or maybe the upcoming Cayman (Boxster Coupe).
|
yes i know blue eyes it has Freestyle Doors. but as you well know the coomon term for rearward opening doors is "suicide doors" even though the 8s cant be opened without the front.
|
Mazda likes "Free Style Door System"
I guess they don't like the death connotation! |
IM not liking it at all
|
Well suicide doors are still used in the RR Phantom, that is a true suicide doors handle outside. In the old days those doors used to fly open due to wind resistance, hence the name suicide doors.
Mazdas on the other hand is overlapped by the front door, no handle outside, so its really quite different to warrant the name change. Regarding the Porsche shot, I wouldnt comment on whether the car is real or not, I believe the concept is real, and has a high chance of being made, Porsche has always been bold in their product development. BUT I can tell you for sure those pics were very obvious photoshop chopped or renders... The bits of pieces of Carrera GT headlight and tail light is so obvious on the front and back. |
The first pic looks like an 8 if you jumped out and scared it real bad.
 <-- like that. Looks a bit too long as well. If they shortened it up a bit, I think it could actually be a really cool looking car. |
