saran wrap... tacky?
i saw a rx8 and a g35 (buddies i guess) both with im pretty sure was saran wrap covering the license plate, it was still visible, and easy to read, but im sure this is for the red light cameras. do you guys find this tacky, gross, or whatever?
|
The saran wrap trick only works if you used it to cover poultry in the fridge, as it absorbs the chemicals which give it a UV protected reflection that the red light camera's flashes see, thus making them invisible and protected.
|
I think it's stupid and childish, and it's never going to work.
You deal with red light cameras by spraying some expanding builders foam into one of the cameras vent holes. Make sure you take video of yourself doing it and put it on youtube so we can bask in your awesomeness. |
actually they did it wrong...if they covered their entire car with saran wrap, it would work to it's maximum red light camera protection. Better safe than sorry.
|
You HAVE to do as I said or it WONT WORK.
|
so wrapping the whole car is a bit overkill huh...
well at least it will make the G35 look like beer tits. |
|
....i specifically said covering the license plates...
and my DAD was interested in it, and i am too, because of his recent ticket. in the mail we got a paper for the ticket, and a link to a video of him not doing a complete stop for the right turn. 20 years of driving and he has never had an accident of his fault, the safest driver i know. he was furious for getting that 75 dollar ticket, for slowing down, looking, and continuing to move. |
jerks.

Wow with cars like that and they cant go to autozone and buy the shit you spray on your plate for the red light cams?
Thats just FAIL!!! |
he didn't run a red light.....it was for a right turn, in texas you CAN do that.

if he didn't stop at a red light regardless of turning right or not, it's still against the law. I can turn right on red all day in Iowa, but I must come to a complete stop, make sure there is no traffic, then turn. I'm pretty certain drivers education teaches this.

I hate to say it but it looks gimmicky.
|

Mythbusters tested this, none of it works. If a police officer can see it, so can a camera.
But why don't you try it and run though a few red lights to find out. ;) Personally, I'd try to destroy the camera, rather then try and hide the plate. If you're going to break the law, go about it in a heroic manner and keep everyone from getting a ticket from a traffic camera. |
this thread is retarded.

ive seen the saran wrap thing but the guy also had tin foil on the back...maybe it'll reflect all the light when the camera takes a pic?

This kid is a disgrace to the name Anthony ... ugh.

<free post> You'd be better off mounting your license plate on a mechanism that can flip over to show a different plate. Any device you put over your license plate to prevent red light cams from working on you is just going to piss off any cop who sees it and make them cite you for every single violation on your car (and if you've got blood soaked saran wrap all over your license plate, chances are there are more then a few violations). At least with a plate changing device you'd actually fool the red light cam before the cops pulled you over and cited you for it. |
