RX8 vs Gallardo

Not sure if anyone has read this before but while looking thru Road & Track on my break last night I stumpled upon a cool bit of info. According to R&T our cars brake as well as the Gallardo:

60-0mph: RX8 110ft--------Gallardo 110ft

80-0mph: RX8 193ft--------Gallardo 194ft

Happy Driving

Don't know what a Gallardo is, but it must be decent to brake as well as the RX-8 :D

Sat in the "entry level" Lambo at the Detroit Auto Show last month. IMHO, it had a strange sitting position and a misplaced dead pedal. RX-8 much more comfortable day to day. At $160K, buy a 430 Modena or a 911 turbo S and get better performance and more comfort. At $30K buy the RX-8.

YOu cannot buy a 430 for 160K, and you can't get one for 2 years. The Turbo S does not perform as well without aftermarket tuning and the Gallardo can be had under 160 K easy. The gallardo's brakes suck ass compared to many exotics out there, that is being adressed along with the power and drivetrain from what I have heard very soon.

Oh, that pick shaolin posted is of the lamborghini Cala concept.

PaulyG CT 02-02-2005 09:00 AM

OK so $180K and $140K. Doesn't really move the meter on net worth for buyers of these cars. Lets look at the Lambo and the 430 at 30K miles and lets see how ragged out they will be compared to the 911.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.

There have been many reports that when the cars are tracked, the brakes fail.

Samsonite1: How many of these cars have you owned?

All but the Lamborghini. On the list for the 430

no not 180K. For the first couple years these will be going for over 200K easy, probably closer too 220K. The gallardo can be had under MSRP. I'm sure the 430 and Gallardo will be doing fine at 30K miles compared to a porsche, and they will have been much more fun to drive.

samsonite1 02-02-2005 09:12 AM

Ferrari is not allowed to sell new cars about sticker so the 430 is a 190k car.
The Lamborghini is falling fast and will continue to do so.
The Porsche will fall as well.

the 360's are holding up well.

PaulyG CT 02-02-2005 09:13 AM

S: OK so that makes 2 of us on the cars

BE: Much more fun to drive is in the eye of the beholder and I beg to differ on maintenance as you should see my bills on the 360 compared to the 911

I have seen that a couple times. That would suck.

I looked it up and 110 is fairly standard for gallardo range cars.

Porsche's are one of the worst investments you can make as far as resale goes, the gallardo isn't much better. I have heard of people spending over 210K for a 430 already.

I will not disagree on the 360 service costs. Most of that is the moronic prices that Ferrari charges for parts and the $125 per hour labor rates.

By the end of the year it will be a 80k car.

Then they are buying a car that is being flipped. Ferrari is only allowed to sell at sticker. the resale maket is already, like you said, in the low to mid 200's.

I was wondering that as well.

That makes sense to me!

PaulyG CT 02-02-2005 09:26 AM

Not on list for 430. Had my fill of the F car, thank you. BTW, who cares about depreciation, cars are not investments, they are toys...
