I could see it matching the ZR-1's time, beating it would knock me on my A$$!:Eyecrazy: |
Now all the haters please stand up !
GT-R ... I think I've seen 2 so far in NYC. |
at this rate the V spec have a pretty decent chance at besting the ZR-1 despite severe weight and power disadvantages.
|
thats kinda nuts

Where is Porsche's comments ;)

The GT-R is sick, except for the fact that if you ever use the launch control or take it to the track, you will need to kiss you Tranny goodbye. Apparently the tranny sucks big time in these things. The launch control kills the gearbox and there are articles saying that after one track run, the tranny needed to be replaced. According to multiple write ups, turning on Launch control VOIDS the warranty and buyers need to sign saying they understand this. Thats complete BS.

very impressive!
I've never loved the looks of this car but I've said it from the beginning, 'the GT-R's performance demands respect." |
The GT-R's 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are all based off of using the launch control feature. Without using this feature, you will NOT be able to reproduce those numbers. Using the launch control can severly damage the tranny even from 1 use. Nissan will not cover this under warranty and will charge you up to $20,000 to replace the tranny. This would be like a car comming stock with Nitrous Oxide and if you use it then you have to pay for all repairs that should be covered under warranty.
Without using this feature, it is still a GREAT car. Just not worth $80,000 when you cant use a STANDARD feature on the car without voiding your warranty. |

even WITHOUT the blazing 0-60 times, it's still worth EVERY penny of the $80,000
consider everthing else it does: - handling - cornering speeds - top speed - 4 seats - nav system - full electronic gauge setup, you can monitor just about anything - bose stereo - did I mention how FAST this thing is? how is this NOT worth 80k?! |
The tranny is known to get messed up from using the launch control once. How reliable to you think it will be as a DD? I wouldn't take the chance since they are trying to charge around $20,000 for a new tranny. Once you go out of that warrant, lok out. Do you need the launch control? Short answer is No. But why put something on the car the fucks it up. That turns the launch control button into a Warranty Void button. If Nissan see's that Launch Control was enabled, even if you didnt actually use it(say you pushed the button and changed your mind) they void your warranty. God forbid your kid or a friend just pushes the button to see what it does.

Didn't they take the launch control off the new models? What are the new models rated at on 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.?

I think it's pretty piss poor that they had a standard feature on the car that you can't use or it voids the warranty, but they do seem to be trying to correct their mistake. |

People bitch because they know they fucked it up and they want someone to cover their stupidity. Why would Nissan do that? So a bunch of crying babies just bitch on the Internet. Nissan knows there are too many "wannabes" racers out there. so LC is still there, but they lowered the rpm, changed the tranny change speed, and MAKE SURE those dumbasses/wannabes know that if they use it, you risk your warranty. Nissan is still looking for a solution to the "clogging transmission oil pressure sensor problem" (this exist because stock fluid is not good enough to protect the transmission under certain racing conditions. oh btw when this happens, it might lock the 2-4-6 gear out, so only 1-3-5 will work, Snow and race mode will be all forced to normal, limit your speed to something like 46 km, and of course, throw a CEL out(tranny error P0786 or something) like our 8's limp mode.) Another problem with the tranny is not the tranny itself, its the heat that it generates. sadly. The stock fluid is not good enough to protect the parts and cool it off fast enough So 1 company came up with a solution and it works pretty well --- better GR6 box oil than stock(that has 2-3 times better protection), better oil pan(much better cooling), and a small electric pump + transmission oil cooler (turns on as soon as it reaches 94 Celsius) |

That video is like a slap in Porsche(and their test drivers)'s face. From Nissan "You Germans cant drive for shit ! go home and be a family man ~ rofl" |
just to point out, we could totally take it in the twisties.

Nissan is the only company capable of taking a factual thing like physics and make it completely obsolete. |
