I wonder if I can turn this old RX7 into a show piece like this RX7?

Engine is a NA 12A - bummer. That will need to be replaced with a 13B Turbo for sure.

call me crazy but i liek the old style of the cars (not as much as the 8 though)..i htink it would be a fun project car...would taek me a whiel to do it...btu i think i woudl do everything myself....restoration/upgrading. i think it woudl be a worth wild thing to do.......may not be the most inexspensive project..but if you sorce the parts and do everythign yourself it won't be as much as you might think :D

if you do it...keep us updated with pics :D:D:D

Did you see the price reflection in the window?

what would you do with the car after it's restored.

I don't know, that's why I made the post. I have always wanted to restore a car. I'm selling my house and moving farther West in the State. I'm looking for a house with a shop to work on a project car. It would be interesting to rebuild a 1st gen, but I don't know if it will be a money pit.

I guess I would drive on sunny Sundays :D

As a track car it might be fun. I, however, have recently come to the realization that I don't want to be driving anything older than 5-10 years around on the streets, it's just not safe IMO. No more E30 M3 for me :(

I voted for 'restore', but I wouldn't personally turn it into some tuner / custom job.. i'd restore it to stock, with a worked-over motor and suspension, leaving the interior and body as Mazda made it. Maybe 14" BBS wheels. (Okkay, *definitely* BBS 14" wheels.. I don't think one can even get decent 13" rubber anymore..)

Be advised, the SA/FB, while having reliable engines and gearboxes, are money pits -- that car, almost guaranteed, will need a steering box (it's a pitman arm.. ugh), every piece of rubber in the suspension replaced (lots of it.. pricey..).. it's not going to be a cheap job, regardless of how you go about it.

A labor of love, not profit.

Hell yeah it can be done, but with lots of time and $$$$$.

I'd say go for it. Turn it into a dedicated track car.
