I was cruisen my 8 down the freeway saturday nite when I saw a low slung pair of neon headlights comming up behind very fast. I thought it might be a vette. It then pulled up right next to me and we ran side by side. To my surprise it was a Dodge Prowler. !st time I saw one moving. What a good lookin car it is. We eyed each others ride and then played lane tag for awhile. We came long side again staying even for another good look at each other. Then I turned off on my exit. It was a good feeling to know my 8 fits into the exotic car realm and other high priced exotic vehicles take notice.

It is a cool looking car, but I've always wished it had a V8 rather than a low power V6. :mad:

It's a cool looking car - turns heads, and having had the opportunity to drive one off and on for a couple of months, it's actually a pretty decent performer. I'm sure the numbers suck, but the handling was tight, and it had a cool exhaust note. It does, however, make even the s2k seem like a practical vehicle. BTW, it's a Plymouth. ;)

... and it uses a lot of gas too. Sound like any other powertrain you might already know? Of course it doesn't use oil so that may confuse the question. :) I would think an "8" owner would be the last to cast this "stone". :D


Yes it does. Any BTW it was a Plymouth for model years 97, 99-01 and a Chrysler for 01-02.


Roaddemon - Could you tell the color? I had one before I got my "8".

Prowlers are nice looking cars, I have a friend that has one, The inside of them is HORRIBLE, I am 6'0'' and its hard for me to sit in it, the dash and gauges look like crap, the outside is the only good thing about them, as far as performance, our cars clean them up, and quality too, he sat in my 8 and was very impressed with the quality, its like night and day. if you get a chance sit in one, youll be glad to get back into your 8 :)

It looked like black under the lights but could have been the same color as the prowler in your pic. They sure are head turners. Anybody know the MSRP?

yea, no kidding. they can stick a hemi in the new magnum and a viper engine in a dodge ram, but they won't stick anything with any power in the prowler.

MSRP was just north of $40K. Of course it was near 90K with dealer markup in it's heyday.

By the way, I beleive Chrysler did not have a passenger car V8 at the time they were pulling together the Prowler. All their vehicles were front wheel drive. I beleive the tranny actually sits behind the rear wheels for that reason as well. As the power train made it's way to the originally front wheel drive 300M. They made sure they didn't run into this issue with their next sports car adding two more cylinders than 8!

Man I love those cars.

Didn't mean to offend. Just think a car thats supposed to look like a modern day American hotrod type car should have a V8 in it (or at least the option for a V8).

It's still a real headturner, and something I would love to take for a spin.
