They're actually recommending as far as 7,500 and above mi, now, for the oil at least, these days.
I'll be changing mine before then, just for the peace of mind, but, ultimately, if oil CAN last 7,500 mi, it can last a month sitting in your engine.

Besides, ultimately, I'd be worried about how the filter would be holding up approaching that mark anyway.
Regardless, I'm not gonna try that in any of my cars.

WIX high performance filters wont even falter at that time frame. They use a glass filter technology:
"Ea Oil Filters feature advanced full-synthetic nanofiber technology and rank among the most efficient filters available for the auto/light-truck market. When used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils, AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for extended service life:
• Ea Filters designated with product code Ea15K are recommended for 15,000 miles/one year, whichever comes first, in normal or severe service.
• Ea Filters designated with product code EaO are recommended for 25,000 miles/one year, whichever comes first, in normal service or 15,000 miles/one year, whichever comes first, in severe service."
Its all about the choices you make. But they filter to 10 microns and can last up to a year so you can always pay an extra couple dollars to get one with a glass filter instead of paper. http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=Ea15k12-EA

Yeah, I've seen the nicer filters that can do that, but man, I was trying to keep things basic to keep this from becoming another oil debate, haha.
Because the "Well, I run this for this amount of time.", then "Well, I run this because it can blah blah" discussions are about to start at this rate.
But honestly, I saw in one of the oil filter relocation buys, they were talking about a company with a filter rated at 50,000 street miles, and so many for racing/track days. The kit had a separate drain to drain where the new filter sat, to just drain it and not need to remove or replace the filter until it was time.

and their price is usually on par if not cheaper than most other "famous" brands like Fram/Bosch/Mobil1/K&N/etc.
Problem is not that many places sell it ...
I have like 2 dozen oil filters, at least 10 of them are Mazda's and the rest are FRAM/Mobil1, but my family has 3 cars that use the same type of filter so it should be fast, maybe another year or 2, yeah you saw FRAM, but I got it with oil change special, will use it for my RX-7's new build break in lol)
when Im done with all my filters I will order a bunch of WiX
