Official Cayman pics

The search function couldn't find the old thread I made about the Cayman, despite knowing the title of it. I think it's broken :(
Anyways, here are some "official" shots of the upcoming cayman, looks awesome!! I want to see it in black with some anthracite wheels. https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=51011&stc=1 https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=51012&stc=1 https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=51013&stc=1 |
As soon as they bring out this beauty with DSG Duel sequential gearbox in 2008 i think i will be a contender for one :D
Dont panic i will still be keeping the RX8 sharing it with my eldest son :p cheers michael |
It's a porsche. But it looks better than most porsche's IMO.
|
I've never been a porsche fan, but I'd say that's kinda hot. Reminds me of the Elise.

The rear hatch door shape reminds me of the old Beetle...

It looks like a TT and a 911 mated, I can't decide if that's a good thing or not looks wise but I'm sure it'll be fun to drive.
|
I like it. I'm a Porsche fan anyway.
|
Oh man, I had a dream about this car last night. I was driving a race prepped version at Road America, the whole field was 360 NGT's and my car was painted like speed racers. I woke up before I finished, but I wasn't winning

The side profile looks very nice indeed.
Wasn't this car supposed to be the coupé version of the boxster? It looks quite a bit bigger. |

My first mod would be to get rid of those fog lights
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=51027&stc=1 |
The fog lights remind me of the "Underground" MS RX-8 that was featured in R&T's SPEED magazine. And those wheels in the first group of pics also looks RX-8-esque.
I think the side vents could use some cleaning up as well. I also was hoping it would have some rear vents like the 911, the back looks a bit plain. The profile reminds me of the old Dino Ferrari. Prices estimates for this car seem to be all over the map. R&T states it should be close to the Boxster, C&D says over $70K (they're wrong), most other sources indicate around $60K, slotted between the Boxster and 911. If it's close in price to the Boxster, I might consider one, otherwise I'd opt for a 911. |
Great looking car, sure it will do very well.
|
Holy shit! Now that's a Porsche I actually like.
|
You know one reason I would never buy it? I'm sure you can't change the plugs without putting it up on a lift. Same with the Boxter. Part of building a proper sportscar is giving the owner a fighting chance of working on it themselves. Porsche never got this. Check out what it takes to do the clutch in a 924/944.

I would buy it, then buy a hoist.

That's still not cool. Also, I wonder where the air filter is and how you check the oil. You still need to check it more often than you need to change it.
Some car companies like to stretch that oil change figure out because they know it'll be well out of warranty when it catches up to you. Even if the oil still has the same lubricating qualities after 5000 miles (hasn't been broken down by dillution with raw fuel, heat, etc.), it's loaded up with by-products of combustion that can start eating away at stuff. |
The only reason that some people would not buy it would be because they cant afford it . :p
